Retired, voted early. Will stay away from the talking heads today on the boob tube. The trouble with politics is the politicians and the media.

You can, of course, void your vote by writing some witty comment about the quality of the candidates, and the election can even be cancelled if too many people do that, however, the required void rates are so high (I think it is something like 66%) that for all purposes it is not going to affect the results.

and actually, some years ago, there was this "election ink" you were supposed to dip your middle finger in. But this was more to avoid fraud (somebody voting multiple times) than to recognize you as a voter. Technology and better times had made this obsolete, at least in Peru [:)]

Yes, that is what also what was advised by some "clever" guys here who acknowledge that your voice does not really count, but you should go there anyway and write what you say "witty comment". BUT as if anyone from the politicians reads this, the vote counters will just throw your witty commenent card in garbage [;)]

Like in this current election in the US, some advocate you should go but write "I do not consent" or "none of the above" on your card. Makes no difference but maybe they feel better themselves then...

Good time to watch the old BBC Sherlock Holmes stories with Jeremy Brett...(who was just meant for the role.)

Just voted. More poll workers than voters, I think I beat the crowd. Walked out of the place to the sounds of a flowing river.

Voted this morning, took an hour to get through the line. Much better then last election when it took four hours. Canoerebel you can always head up to Jocassee Gorges in NC or any of the fine hiking trails in SC off of routes 25, 76 & 178.

I go vote in an hour or so. I tried to get on the ballot as the Green Party candidate but that didn't work out. [8|]

By the way, Bullwinkle58, thank you very much for your service, that is totally cool.

I didn't see this thread when I started mine.

I VOTED!

Since Tuesday night is ALWAYS inventory night at Subway, I shall avoid the news by doing inventory and TRYING to forget about the state of the nation.

Funny Note: My wife is a Trustee of LaSalle (City Councilwoman). The Board debated on taking the night off due to the election then they unanimously decided to still meet and work on the town 2017 budget so they could stay AWAY from the news. Thought that was entertaining.

I saw the election ink method being used in an Arab country (can't remember which) where a woman was proudly showing her purple finger because she had just got the right to vote. I thought - there's a good idea. Young people will see all the purple fingers and know that when they come of age they should vote too.

Then the next day I heard that there were instances of women having their purple finger cut off by Arab men who did not accept their equality or freedom - what a horrible doctrine! After that I was not in favour of the purple ink method.

Some states have instituted restrictions to keep people from voting. In Alassippi for example, you must show up with a shrubbery. You can see one of their election officials here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIV4KLCmJ98

I voted several days ago (absentee ballot)
I am avoiding ALL media today...well, honestly I do that everyday anyway - but especially today.
I will drink some good red wine tonight, and consider the Gorn's words carefully ([:D])

m10bob - YES! Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes from BBC is THE Best! (I had to buy the entire series on DVD some years back)...so maybe I won't worry too much about seppuku after all [:D]

JB; why did that guy have to die so young? I think he was poisoned. Maybe someone should look into that.

I live in a state that is 100% mail in, so I voted with a cat in my lap. I started voting two weeks ago, but didn't finish until late last week. In any case the way Washington does it does make voting easy.

This has been a very weird election cycle. I think we're living the Chinese curse.

Held my nose and did my civic duty. The good part of the day was helping my 11 year old son pick out gear for his first hike on the Appalachian trail.
