MP distance is the cost in movement points to travel along the path. Supply is treated as 99 morale motorized unit for the purposes of movement cost (with one exception for mountain units in mountains). See movement cost tables to see how terrain, rivers, weather and ZOC affect movement cost.

Movement costs are listed in the manual, just look for the tables.
