Israeli Turn 7...The night of October 6th was one filled with mostly close in fights all along the line.
The Syrian's had managed to infiltrate between the strong points. One area that was brutally contested was the wadi that ran between the Hermonit and Booster Ridge.
On Booster, the Syrian's had managed to get units up to the firing ramps. With the developing threat of having his sector split, Khahalani realigned his forces.

Syrian Turn 8... The night assault upon the Tels by Col Rostom's 85th Motorized Bde was proceeding well enough.

The 1st Bn on the right, reported heavy contact with enemy tanks upon reaching the Israeli positions on the Hermonit.

2nd and 3rd Bn's were also reporting heavy fighting along the Booster Ridge.

The extent of the Syrian attack....

Israeli Turn 8..."Menahem, Bn Cdr here, do not maneuver east of the road leading to Booster. Amnon is engaging the enemy out that way.
"Bn Cdr, this is Amnon...We've destroyed more tanks and pushed the infantry back, but I'm taking small arms fire from behind me"
"Emmy, situation?"
"They are coming at me hard! Mostly dismounts but they are across my whole front!

"Khahalani, Yanosh (Ben-Gal)...I'm sending you some help. A Plt from Caspi. I'll instruct him to contact Emmy."

"I can use all the help you send. They keep coming...."

"Svet, take the Plt closet to you plus the tank from Amnon and position yourselves to block the wadi.

"This is Svet, ok, but we are running low on ammo"

The situation....

I'm curious. Do you ever toggle the . (period) hot key to display on-map Elevation values? (You can also try Display > Map Elevations.)

Historical Pause...The fight that occurred on the night of 6 October in the 77th Ar Bn's sector, which stretched from the Hermonit in the north, to Kuneitra in the south, with units of Ltc Nafshi's Bn along the "Purple Line" made Ltc Khahalani's situation more than difficult. In his book, "Heights of Courage", the constant shifting of his forces, which only amounted to 2-3 tanks at a time, was by in it itself, the difference.

Also of importance was Col Ben-Gals influence upon the fight. He had positioned himself on the Hermonit to see the battlefield. He always maintained a reserve to react to calls for assistance. But he never left himself short...

As Alan Arvold says in his design notes.."These scenario's are not intended to be "Historical Recreations" of the fight that occurred in the "Valley of Tears", but rather a "Carcature" (sp) of what occurred."

What I like about this series of scenario's is that they convey the "feeling" of confusion, desperation, frustration, and admiration of foe, throughout the fight. Look, there's alot of stuff being thrown at the Israeli's, whether it's historical or not, it still "Historical."

Yes, the Syrian's did attain the firing ramps on Booster Ridge, but as is happening in the game, it was not in strength. Rather, it was a small part of the larger whole...The Syrian's were forcing the Israeli defense....

The actual fight that night was from 1600hrs until 0200hrs on the 7th....

The casualties among tank commanders in the 77th, especially leaders, was beginning to mount...

Israeli Turn 9... "Bn Cdr, Emmy...I'm under alot of pressure here..."
"Bn Cdr, Sachs...I need to back off. Artillery is accurate...
"Svet's...the Wadi?"
"Infantry so far, but I'm running low on ammuntion."
"You must hold for now."
"Amnon?
"I'm holding, but they're close and hard to see."

"Menahem?"

"I'm below the ramps engaging..."

Israeli Turn 10... Khahalani listened to the reports coming over his Bn net. Cpt Svet's and his 4 tanks defending the wadi were in contact with tanks and infantry.

Svet's tanks were also running low on ammo. He decided to send Svet's Cmd section back to him. He could not have the Syrian's between him and Emmy's Co on the Hermonit.

The Cmd Sec tanks were traveling along the track that led to Svet's position when it came in contact with Syrian infantry...

Menachem's Co was coming up Booster Ridge from the south, running into pockets of enemy soldiers among the boulder fields.

Cpt Emmy on the Hermonit, had held his position. Enemy forces were still attempting to penetrate his line of tanks,
but the arrival the Plt from Ltc Rattes 71st Bn Recce Co secures his left flank, allowing him to concentrate on what appeared to be the Syrian's main effort.

"Bn Cdr, Meneham is hit, they are evacuating him..." came the radio call. Ltc Khahalani decided to send his deputy to take command.
"Make radio contact with C Co and let them know your location" ordered Khahalani"

Khahalani was now facing multiple threats. The contact along the road was his major concern.

With C.Co at or approaching the ramps from the south, he would have to shift himself and Amnon's Co to the north, towards the road....

Israeli Turn 11...Khahalani had multiple threats within his sector. Col Ben-Gal made it clear that the "Booster" was to be defended, as was the "Hermonit."

Yair Svet was holding the wadi position with 3 tanks. Emmy was on the slopes of the Hermonit with 10 tanks holding off a brutal assault of tanks and infantry.

Amnon tanks had run into enemy anti-tank and missile elements as they tried to support Svet's position.

Meneham was injured in his advance to clear the forward slopes of Booster.

Cpt Capri's 3 tanks from the 71st Recce were integrated with Emmy's left flank allowing him to free his #2 Plt to move to support the defense of the wadi...

Syrian Turn 12...Col Rostom could see the tracers bouncing off the ground upon the two Tels. He could see the many green tracers of his forces and the return fire red tracers of the Israeli's. 3rd Bn had forces on top of the Booster but they had not secured it. The 1st Bn had not been able to penetrate the enemy lines on the Hermonit, even after being reinforced with Engineers. Most of his units were now reporting low ammunition status.

Israeli Turn 12...

Khahalani heard Svet's call about losing another tank in the fight for the wadi, but he knew that Emmy's right flank Plt had taken a blocking position to close off the exit.

Emmy's call was more was more excited than usual..."Bn Cdr, Emmy...I'm taken alot of heavy artillery here. Caspi is here with me. Could you please tell our artillery brother to help me out here?" He gave Khahalani the grids to fire and Khahalani told his artillery officer that he was to flatten the ground.....

He needed to take back control of the crossroads in order to get his units ammo...they were about out...

Syrian Turn 13...The reports that Khahalani received made him slump in his turret. Emmy had lost 3, None of Svet's tanks were answering his calls, and Menacham's Co just reported 4 down....Amnon lost 2...
