TSS series (no other game does FOW this extreme at this scale)

Sorry, is TSS for Total System Scenic wargames or something else?

Thanks

Acronyms abound as though we all know exactly what they mean. By the way, listing any turn based game as most realistic is, in and of itself, unrealistic. [:D]

Software could easily be Pro edition of Steel Beast...

Iam sure you know who they are but maybe not everybody else.

TSS = Terrible Swift Sword, massive Civil War board game.

I'm sure TSS was meant for "Tactical Studies series"

In your opinion which military strategy games series (games) are most realistic ever? In my list there are: Command Ops, Combat Mission, Close Combat, Panzer Command (Ostfront), Graviteam Tactics, TacOps4, TOAW III, Theatre of War, AGEOD's games and maybe Hearts of Iron. I have never tried War in the East/West

I guess it depends on how you define realistic. Does a slavish devotion to OOB make it realistic? What about if that devotion does not result in a realistic end result?

Is the end result being realistic the key requirement - and if so, is it acceptable to bend on the OOB?

What about actual game mechanics. Game mechanics of fighting are rarely realistic but some game achieve a degree of realism - although perhaps in one area of fighting only e.g. naval but not ground.

To answer the question I think you need to refine the premise.

I agree...

If the simulation had to be as realistic as possible, then we would most likely need more then one PC and much better one´s too! I will just mention two variables for example...

- Weather calculations.
- Balistic calculations.

Just these two would need a big amount of processing power and time. Without mentioning that we expect it to be in real-time, which just add´s up to more processing power.

Most of us have consumer PC´s, which are dedicated to other things too besides running a wargame or two.

Just beeing realistic [;)]
