A game can not truly be said to represent Canada unless there is a option to build the what-if carrier Canada. So is she represented? The world needs to know.
warspite1

HMCS Canada is indeed represented in the game. I feel my duty to the world now discharged.

Discharged? So soon? And the fun was just getting started...[:(]

Also, the game is $AUD 299 during the pre-order period. That's $USD 225 roughly. Not a bad deal really.

It wouldn't be my best game ever made its scale being my number 1 reason. Though I know it was said abit tongue in cheek.

Still I'm very surprised you've never heard of it esp being a member of what is mainly a wargamers forum/publisher. WIF is one of the all time classics, the ASL of grand strategy scale wargames.

Best game evah made? You have "proven" FACTS from many many others besides youself.[:'(] I want to see these documents and presentation of the best game evah award. [:'(]

I'd never really heard of it till Matrix start to produce it several years ago.

Now, if it were "War of the Lance" or "Battles of Napoleon" we could talk. [:D]

It really isn't a bad deal. I would definitely give it a go even if you think you would never play it; it truly is a work of art.

I got some weird looks in the store when I bought more or less their entire stock of matchstick-boxes when I bought WiF. (glued them together into a large square structure to use for the counters).

And WiF tip of the day, do not toss lighters into the air (and TRY to catch them) over the eastern front in -43...

Some years after 9/11 a friend of mine and I flew to Germany to play Euro WiF...we were joking about what might happen to us if asked by security the reason for our trip and we answered truthfully: "Going to a world in flames convention".[:D]

The Collector's Edition Deluxe game is $238 US, which seems reasonable. Is there any reason to even think about the Super Duper Deluxe version for $476 US?

That very much depends on what you already have in terms of the game and the various add-ons. It also depends on what you believe you may want to play - e.g. does extending the war into the 1950's appeal? Do you want to add on a game that gives random starting positions (i.e. different outcomes of actions in the 1930's?) or do you just want to play a strategic WWII game? If you can give me an outline on what you have and what you are looking for Challerain I can gladly try and help.

I don't have anything right now so I would just be getting into the game, so that is why the $238 option seems like the best deal to me. Not really interested in the extending into the '50s. So, it seems that you already answered my questions :)

Thanks!

Then defo, if you want the WWII game then the Collectors Edition Deluxe Game is the one. This gives you all the add-ons: Ships in Flames, Planes in Flames, Territories in Flames and Divisions in Flames. These aren't just chrome - these really enrich the game. Having said that you can pick and choose the optional rules you want to play with.

I will be doing a review of the game on AWNT's blog.

I am super excited. I owned one of the early copies and also have the Matrix version.

I look forward to it. Are you doing the review on the new RAW 8 or the current RAW 7 - presumably the former?

I haven't found out for sure but I am assuming it will be RAW 8.

This will be a review of the new collectors edition that is on Kickstarter right now.

In that case its RAW8. As I say, I await with interest.

Like you wodin, I am surprised by the lack of interest from serious wargamers.

First of the Stretched targets has been met - I believe that means that ADG will be printing the Scandinavian Map on hard board in due course. Hussah! [:)]

Not all of us has the time or the will to play these "monster games" (like WiF, Axis Empires, WaW, A3R, Europe series, etc.), specially when nowadays we have Absolute Victory and Unconditional Surrender Europe.
