Yes, because the positions of individual soldiers are not simulated.

The AI is dynamic, meaning that you can give it basically any tactical situation within the game system limits, and the AI can handle it without any scripting involved.

I still enjoy the freeware version so Im really looking forward to this release. Could it be modded for WW2?

Freeware game had Eastern Front '44 mod, so it is absolutely feasible.
