Communique received from the Emperor by way of Admiral Wa. The Empire desires peace!

Intel reports that a large transmission, in ten parts, is underway to the Empire's embassy in Washington. That must be the new treaty proposal. So Saturday night of December 6th can be spent relaxing and unwinding from the stress of the recent alerts.

KANCHO!!!

I've done first turn air units (not in combat areas), turned off repairs of industries in China and a few others. Next up is base construction settings.

I'm saving orders in China for last as that will require the most thought. Last time I eventually lost virtually all of China but very early on I managed to catch some IJA units without enough friends and punish them badly. I have a feeling I won't be able to pull off similar maneuvers this time. They'll be expected. I'll be mulling over a China strategy while I grind through the bases.

This is awesome. I started reading your last AAR when I was first learning the game - picked it up just before you hit CRB. I'm looking for more of the same!

Allies outside of China are at peace and are under restrictions on movement and other orders. Some additional restrictions have been self-imposed.

• Desired industry settings have been made. Basically repairs have been turned off for all industries in China and in some other bases/cities in the hot zone.

• Air groups out of turn 1 harms way have been given training orders and filled with pilots. China and Soviet Union ran out of pilots from their pools part way through that effort. Dutch had no pilots in the pool.

• Air groups in some out of harms way places were left on naval search but adjusted.

• Base construction settings have been made.

• Existing TFs have been given orders. None have been ordered to full speed. Merchants in or heading into hot zones were not altered.

• No submarine's orders changed.

• Lexington and Enterprise ordered to Canton Island.

• Force Z ordered to Batavia.

• CL Danae ordered to Palembang.

• UK, et al LCU at sea ordered to Colombo for reassignment. Singapore is already impregnable and needs no reinforcements. Burma is so close to India the Empire wouldn't dare.

• CA Exeter, CL Enterprise, CL Glasgow remain at Colombo.

• CA Houston and CL Boise ordered to Balikpapan. CL Marblehead + DD's orders to Balikpapan unchanged.

• CL Tromp orders to Soeranaja unchanged. CL DeRuyter + DD's orders to Soerabaja unchanged.

• CL Leander, CA Canberra, CL Perth ordered to Townsville.

• "USN transports" - CA Louisville, 1x AP, 1x XAP ordered to Canton Island.

• CL Adelaide remains at Port Moresby.

China

• 88th C Corps falling back on Wenchow but will likely be caught by superior enemy forces. All units at Pucheng moving to Wenchow. Several other units in the area moving to Wenchow.

• Some units falling back on Kukong.

• Units at Kanhsien will remain there until menaced, then withdraw to Kukong.

• Units at Wuchow moving to Kweilin.

• 2nd Prov C Corps (W Canton) moving to Nanning.

• 62nd C Corps (NW Canton) moving to Wuchow. Will withdraw when Wuchow credibly threatened.

• All bases in the mountains toward Burma fortifying.

• Many bases fortifying based on position, terrain, or need to delay enemy.

• Changsha area fortifying, but will be yielded earlier than last time to avoid losing viable force to defend in better terrain.

• Kweilin and Tuyun will be fortified. One unit is moving by rail from Tuyun to Kweilin because Keilin is weakly defended and vulnerable to paratroops.

• 28th, 39th, 38th New C Corps moving from Chungking to Tuyun (already preparing).

• The mountains leading to the northern (western IRL) desert are fortifying as are the bases in the desert.

• Enemy abandoning Ichang. We have units moving in to take it and fortify it. However those units across the river from Ichang are moving to defend Ankang and the forest leading to it. Undefended as it is now Ankang is vulnerable to paratroops.

• Sian is being fortified. Units on the road far E of Sian will pull back to defend in good terrain.

• Loyang and Chengchow will be held by the forces in place to allow other units to redeploy before being engaged.

• Chungking will stay at forts=6 to save supply; the rest of the Chungking basin is fortifying.

• Those units generally around Yenan (the ones not pulling back to defend Sian) are generally staying put to pose a time-consuming nuisance.

• Units out on the plains past Chengchow are variously moving or staying put to pose a nuisance.

• Current thinking is to get most of the Chinese Air Force bought out and moved to India before it gets ground down. Units which withdraw will require some consideration so we don't lose them if they reappear in a city which is in enemy hands at the time.

Looking forward to this one witpqs! Loved your "Rumble in the Southwest" AAR. I hope this game is as enjoyable and goes as long!

So what settings are you playing - PDU-Off or On?

Any significant house rules?

Very nearly the same as last time, basically minimal but aim toward realism but yes it's a game. We both want the same flavor of experience.

PDU = ON.

I only have the replay but that was enough for me to notice 2 bugs in Intel Monkey's performance, which I shall hunt for.

- Some J LCU picked up as A. {Two units in amphibious assaults on Kota Bharu.}
- LCU making paratroop shock attacks not picked up. {They hit Aparri and Tuguegarao.}

These bugs were not present in testing earlier and must have crept in when fixing other issues shortly before deployment. Such is the nature of it.

I'll paste in the Pearl Harbor attacks and attach the complete combat report for anyone who wants to see it.

Why those dummies continued training flights in the afternoon subsequent to a massive morning air raid I'll never know.

Here is the full combat report.

It's nicer to look at it in Intel Monkey than in an editor (and certainly better than the in-game display).
This is the first time in I don't know how long that I didn't either have a battleship badly mauled or sunk outright by a midget sub at Pearl Harbor.
Midget Sub attack inside harbor of Pearl Harbor!!!

Japanese Ships
SSX Ha-19

Allied Ships

It will be several days before I get the next turn so we have plenty of time for idle speculation.

Only Oklahoma looked to be in danger of sinking and was not attacked in the afternoon. I've looked in the combat events and operations reports and see no mention of her.

There is a bug in one of the bases in Manchuko, needing thousands of IJA AV to garrison. Drop Andav a note to check for it...it should be 10 % of that number (200 or 300 I forget which).

I dropped him a note in his AAR, but sometimes he goes a long time without checking in.

I think it is Mukden, and we fixed it during setup. Thanks! [8D]

It was something like 200 intended but 2,000 actual, right?

Yep, yours and Mike's memory is better than mine. I would need to look at the map to figure out which base.

Well we just did it recently.

Different bit of help needed: browser link to go to the last post or at least the last page of this AAR. I took my bookmark from the old AAR and modified it with this AAR number (the "m=########") but it only takes me to top of first page. I've played around with it since then but no joy. Any ideas?
