What of HugeIcons, basicDefaults, experimentalAIP1, experimentalAIP2, and MacroTerrain though? It isn't really material to gameplay but, I'd just like to know.
As per JPJ's answer earlier and the manuel:

Manual page 171-172:
experimentalAIP2=Y For Ralph to do AI testing
experimentalAIP1=Y For Ralph to do AI testing
basicDefaults=N
MacroTerrain=N

The first two seem to be for the developer for testing, not for gameplay.
The last two are not defined. Therefore, no effect(s) and leftovers from Norm's code
So you would probably ignore them unless you know what you are doing.
HugeIcons=Y does what it says - The unit icons in the unit information panel are larger :) So, perfect for those with a higher than 1440x900 resolution.

Geez... this is what I was asking for, great... but since when this is available? Holy undocumented feature, Batman.

Care to expand on that Ralph? I imagine it controls the highest value and averaging. Where highest value was 31 for TOAW 3.4. So, setting BasicDefaults=N should radacalize the evaluation? Would be cool if highest value could be moddable so I could set it to 99 or 999 for greater 'accuracy'.

No, it just controls what numbers are shown. Go to the second screen of player options and click the edit counter values button. You can hit the basic defaults and advanced defaults buttons, or you can click on individual 'slots' and select any value you want.

Basic defaults will have the 'm' key cycling between Anti-Personnel/Defense and Movement stats for units.

Advanced adds stack stats, a mess of engineering related stats, and unit timestamps.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man ... weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not [it] an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Don't understand but, I figure that you're correct in that the ini and that GUI window determine the same thing. Will just have to play test to figure it out myself.
