Turns 7 and 8, 7/13/41 – 7/20/41 AGS

Kiev

1st Panzer Armee reached Kiev. The enemy defenses are not very strong yet, but panzer divisions are weary after a rapid advance. It’s not possible to assault the city until 6th Armee arrivies. Delay will give the enemy time to entrench. AGS does have to find a way across the Dneper River and then encircle the city. The enemy seems to be weak in the north around Chernobyl, but the terrain is very difficult and there are two rivers to cross. The other possible location is Kaniv bridge in SE.

Situation on 7/27/41 after 10 turns.

AGN is on the gates of Leningrad. The enemy has not managed to form a solid line of defense. Supply situation is not good, but I must press hard when the enemy is weak.

AGC: Smolensk is surrounded. The supply situation is bad, and troops are tired. Situation will improve when the city is taken.

AGS: Troops are in the west bank of Dnepr. Next objectives are to cross the river and capture Kiev.

Losses after the first 10 turns:
9633 Heavy Rifle Squads
1245 Engineer Squads
295 Panzers (all types)
164 Fighters (all types)
70 Stukas
368 Bombers (all types)

Railheads are on the map in cyan.

I'm really eager to see how the hyper aggressive advance plays out for you vs Larry's much more cautious and supply preserving advance. I went back and compared your T10 position vs the big maps in his thread: on the southern 2/3rds of the front you're roughly 3 turns ahead, but much farther in the far north where it took him to t20 to reach lake Il'men in force and until nearly t30 to reach the outskirts of Lenningrad.

With your next turn, could you include a zoomed out screenshot of activity in Finland? I'm a bit curious if you're massively ahead of schedule there too.

I’m not hyper aggressive. Barbarossa was a surprise for Stalin and I’m going to keep hammering him when his pants are down. I will not give him time to breathe. I believe sweat saves blood. I’m on the right track if my divisions are tired marching.

I’m not massively ahead of schedule. Smolensk was historically captured on 16th of July. I encircled the city on 23rd of July. So, I’m actually a week behind! Manstein reached Porkov on 10th of July, I was there 16th July. Again, a week behind! Larry and cpt flam are massively behind the schedule and it’s going to cost them blood later.

Situation in Finland on 7/27/41

Advance to Murmansk has stopped. There is no road and the supply is non-existent. It’s impossible to go on. I may have to go back to Litsa River.

36th Geb Korps has advanced along Salla-Alakurtti railroad. Alakurtti is heavily fortified, I have not made serious attempts to take it.

Finnish forces have reached Lake Onega and are continuing to the Svir River.

Staraya Russa

8th Panzer Division assaults enemy positions near Staraya Russa and the town is captured.

16th Armee fights hard in the middle near Luga. Bridgehead is formed but there is no breakthrough.

In the north the situation is much better. 18th Armee divisions arrive near Oranienbaum and the enemy line seems weak. It may be possible to drive right to the city!

Turns 11 and 12, 7/27/41 - 8/3/41 AGC

New Orders

Smolensk was captured on turn 11, AGC has reached its first major goal. It’s time to think about the next objective.

AGC will take Moscow. The first stage of assault will be the capture of Rzhev - Vyazma - Bryansk - Orel line.

The enemy is weak north of Smolensk – Vyazma highway. 57th Panzer Korps is attacking to Vladimirskoye.

2nd Panzer Armee is going to capture Bryansk. Fresh divisions are moving to SE. 10th Motorized is still resupplying near Mogilev.

Turns 11 and 12, 7/27/41 - 8/3/41 AGS

Dneper

16th Motorized Division fought hard crossing Pripyat River. Division was completely exhausted and suffered 25% casualties. Thanks to the bravery of the division, 55th Korps was able to cross the river.

I’m trying crossings on several locations. Dneper is tough nut to crack.
