I launched a powerful counter attack outside Caen. Here are the results.

Nice counter attack v the British Airborne units who now look to be in some difficulty.
My only concern about the defences described in your first post invasion slide showing the Cherbourg area is whether a determined Allied push to the South and East of St Sauveur across to the West coast by Portbail could cut off the entire Cherbourg defence forces . As you have played the Allies you may well see problems with that for them (supply?) but if I was Allies I think I would maybe try that. Just a thought.
Really good detailed AAR again....Good luck !

Ian,
I'm very happy with getting the bridge in the counter attack. I managed to hang onto it during the Allied turn on June 7th, which is very good.
As I watched the Allied attacks, I got frustrated as I forgot to move about 4 Bns. Damn it, I think the Bn commanders must have ignored my orders. Only one of the Bns would have made a difference to the Allied attacks and even then, I'm not sure they would have made much of a change, but it is frustrating.
As for the Cherbourg peninsula, that is exactly what I did as the Allied player, only to discover that Cherbourg is a supply point for the Germans. I want to hold the St. Sauveur area, because if I decide to pull my forces back from the peninsula, this gives me a road to do it.
I will be planning my response to the June 7th Allied attacks after work...
Have a good day,

Finally, the situation around Caen. This is very important as I think the battle for Caen is key to victory.

Those Panzer Grenadiers on Pegasus Bridge have done a huge job for you there. I can see you rolling up the whole of British 1st AB as a result.

Ian,
I agree. I'm glad I was able to blow the bridge as the Brits have pushed me off on the 8th. Still, the paras are unsupplied.

Here is a look at the overall situation after the Allied moves on June 8th. A couple of trouble areas for me...

Wondering if you might have to manually help those embarked British units debark at a different location. Looks like Elmer is stuck.

Nicholas,
I just checked and it is only one unit now. I think the rest have gone to shore.
Have a good day,
Mike
