Army Group Center, turn 4

We are advancing fast on both flanks. We have reached Dvina River at Polotsk. Brandenburg commandos captured Vitebsk bridges by surprise.

On the southern flank 17th PzD captured Zhlobin without fight. Bridges are intact. We have a small bridgehead over Dnieper!

Some Panzer units are almost completely out of fuel. Railheads are about 200 km behind.

We have penetrated the Stalin Line on several locations. Drive continues towards Zhitomir and Vinnitsa. Most of the 1st Pz Army units are on low supply after heavy fighting. They must resupply before any large scale operations. Infantry divisions are in better shape.

Rumanians and 11th Army have crossed Prut River. Next obstacle is Dniester River.

Polotsk was captured on our north flank. Divisions have crossed the Dvina River there. They are advancing towards Velikiye Luki. Orsha was captured by 900th Lehr brigade. The highway is now clear between Minsk and Orsha.

On the south flank we have enlarged our bridgehead near Zhlobin. More divisions are going to cross the river in the next few days. Then we’ll continue towards Gomel.

Panzers are moving north on the east bank of Lake Peipus. The next obstacle is Luga river. We have met some entrenched enemy positions. Fortunately, those have been isolated units. The enemy has not been able to form a solid defense. Terrain is difficult for mobile operations.

We have lost 4825 HRS in the first six turns.

Infantry divisions have now reached Vitebsk – Orsha line. Only 50 km to Smolensk. Some panzer divisions are resupplying near Minsk.

We have lost about 170 tanks and 15 fighter planes. Very low numbers so far. Level bomber losses are about 200 planes. That’s too much in the long run.

We have reached Dnieper River near Kiev. Kiev is well fortified. We must wait for infantry and heavy artillery. Next, we are going to destroy the remaining enemy units on the west bank of Dnieper. We must find a good place to cross the river. Panzer divisions are resupplying near Vinnitsa.

Most of the 11th Army units have now crossed Dniester. They are going to move towards Nikolayev. Rumanians are going to capture Odessa.

Wow you've made quite a lot of progress. Where do you think you'll be by the time winter comes? Will you have captured Moscow, Leningrad, and Rostov?

I think I'll capture Leningrad. I don't know is it possible to take Moscow or Rostov. I'm going to play this historically: All out for Moscow.

You don't know if its possible at all or just based on your progress in Smolensk? Your rapid advances north and south must be causing the soviets to redirect some reserves from the center to north and south no?

I have played this scenario before and read some AARs. Nobody has captured Moscow in 1941. My progress is good so far. Let's see what happens.
