Turn 6 cont...As Ltc Mitzna's forces continued to fight for control of the Tirtur /Lexicon crossroads, Ltc Almog's 184th Ar Bn attempted to use whatever ground they had to maneuver around the wrecks that littered the intersection. The carnage observed by the tanks passing the intersection told the tank commanders more than they needed to know....

Ltc Mitzna's Bn had pushed the enemy some 500m's fron the intersection but the Egyptian's were not running. Instead, they were holding their ground, and as a result, Tirtur remained closed ...

Turn 6 Cont...Col Matt was not about to have his troops walk into anymore ambushes. Calling for a mix of artillery and flares, the flares popped first.

Adan's lead Bde was still trying to reform onto the Kaspi Road after being hit with the harassment fires. The terrain off the side of the road was soft sand. The ensuing rush to get out from under the artillery left many vehicles struggling to get back onto the road, further delaying as Adan's move.

Egyptian Turn 6...The response to the Israeli advances was brutal.

The Lexicon/Tirtur crossroads were aflame.

Matt's Paratroops came under a withering fire.

Adan's lead Bde was hurt by massive enemy artillery.

The amount of commander's that have been killed by artillery is appalling......

The 1st and 2nd HaSini Co's begin their move north along the Sweet Water Canal...

Brom's forces on the east bank continue to stumble upon enemy rear area units....

Turn 7 Cont...Col Reshef stared at the burning wrecks that could been seen 500m to his front, left and right. With him were Ltc Mitzna (196th Ar), Ltc Almog (184th Ar), Ltc Ben-Yitzak (409th Ar) and Ltc Shaked (4th Mech). They were standing 250m west of the Tirtur/Lexicon crossroads, shielded by 8 burning wrecks from the eyes of the enemy. "Mitzna, what's your situation?" asked Reshef. "I have about 10 tanks left, most are with Cpt Kravitz's C Co, but they got bogged down in the ditches. They are here, about 750m east of us, firing across Tirtur." said the exhausted commander. "They are my southern most unit. They are now in position to either stay and support the Infantry or they can move north and link up what is left of my Alpha Co. Alpha's Cdr is dead. Cpt Shechte, Bravo's Cdr has only two tanks left. He's here" Mitzna point on the map.. "My Mech Co is trying to push north along the east side of Lexicon, but the bastards are in trenches."

Reshef looked at his friend. He had been blown out of tank when it was destroyed, then climbed aboard another to continue the fight. "You must hold the crossroad Mitzna. Do not let the enemy infiltrate behind the ground you paid for" said Reshef. "The rest of you, get your units off the road and head west along Nahala. We need room to maneuver and Brom's unit has cleared that area out. "When you get to this position, be careful, Maj Maimon's Tank Co is in the area to the north. Contact him on Brom's Cmd net." ordered Reshef.

"Mitzna, there's a unit of Para's coming forward to reinforce your Mech Co. Once the make it to Kravitz's tanks, they are to advance across Tirtur and help clear the trenches."

Turn 7 Cont...Col Matt pulled back his center force after 6 halftracks exploded into flames approaching Tirtur. He was not sacrificing his men on a suicide mission. He ordered his left Company to dismount within the maze of irrigation ditches and told his right Company to go to ground. Based upon the amount of fire his units encountered, he was facing two well defended enemy positions that overlooked the road...He would wait for artillery and flares to expose what was to his front....

Started at post 30. Each of the buttons (reply, quote, forward) opens a new window to Desert War. With that, I cant Edit and post any screen shots.

I looked at the code for the buttons and a web address for that forum is tucked in there.

ah ha! Seems to be fixed!

Turn 7 (Egyptian)...After receiving fire from the north, Cpt Shalev, Cdr of the 87th's tank company slowly started to move forward. "Driver stop!!!!" he yelled into his microphone..."Mines" At the same time, Cpt Kravitz of the mech company reported the same thing...Then all hell broke loose. Both elements came under direct fires and a tank in Shalev's company started to burn...

Kravitz's vehicles scattered as tank rounds whipped overhead and into the ground all along his position...

Maj Maimon's composite tank company reported that they to, were under heavy fire from Lexicon.

Turn 7 (Egyptian) Cont...Egyptian artillery hit all along the Israeli line. Intense direct fire hit Mitzna's Mech Inf forcing them back. Cpt Schecht reported he was under heavy attack before his radio fell quiet. The Israeli's were taking heavy loses while trying to hold onto the crossroads.

Turn 7 (Egyptian) Cont...Col Matt's right flank Co came under murderous fire. The Cdr's were requesting more artillery than he could provide. The Egyptian's, sensing the Israeli line weakening, launch a counterattack. Matt's left flank Co had to retreat before it took even more casualties. His Bde was not supposed to be in the fight for Tirtur, but he was in it now...

Crossroads....that was probably me. "Crossing" is an excellent resource.
I'm in the (long delayed) process of updating this scenario based on a lot of detailed info
that I've come across that will make this scenario even more challenging.
A few observations....The 14th Brigade did not follow the Akavish road but went cross country
to hit Lexicon by the Granit feature; The 14th Bgd had just under 100 tanks total including
attachments with most battalions only having ~22 tanks instead of the normal TOE of 33,
Matts Paras were also reduced and lagged far behind the 14th and the Ha Sinai Amphibs
were not part of the 14th and played no part in the crossing fight. Also making changes to the
types of vehicles in each of the battalions. Bootlegger.....really well done AAR BTW
