Hello asl3d thanks for the nice pictures. There is nothing more glorious than troops & tanks battling over the ruins of Stalingrad.
These are from a new mod?
I have this Lock & load Stalingrad game but no mods for it.
This mod is not available yet?

Hello GiveWarAchance,
Thank you for your comments.
I answer your questions:

1) "These are from a new mod?”: Exactly. The mod is called "Heroes and Leaders mod". The images you have seen correspond to the historical module “Barrikady” (located in the industrial sector of Stalingrad). The images published in this Thread are screenshots during the testing phase of some Barrikady scenarios.

2) "This mod is not available yet?": This mod is completely available.
The Core of the module you can download it from:

tm.asp?m=4354865#

The "readme" file that contains the mod has all the instructions for its correct installation.

The scenarios of the historical module Barrikady can be downloaded from:

tm.asp?m=4252327

The Scenarios of the first historical module “Carentan” are already included in the Core of Heroes and Leaders mod, as well as the first scenario of historical module Barrikady (Barrikady West).

You also have a set of documents that accompany the "Heroes and Leaders mod" and you can also download them from:

tm.asp?m=4415998

Finally, within this same forum on "Lock 'n Load: Heroes of Stalingrad" (above), and within "Mods and Scenarios" you can find news about the development progress of the mod:

tt.asp?forumid=1354

You can also find interesting information in "The War Room":

tt.asp?forumid=1351

Welcome to one of the best tactical games about the Second World War that I know.
Best Regards.

asl3d thank you for your detailed response.
I downloaded the mod and documents, but can't find the scenarios download. I only see an attachment to download in this thread...

Those pictures look nice with the river and bridge.
Does graniti mean grain factory?

Some Russian positions have a row of grenades on some hexes like in the middle of that last picture. I have that in my game now too. Is that a pack of grenades they can drop & pick up?

I finished the Barrikady Factory battle with dismal results (fairly typical of the historical factory assaults).
I made an AAR here... tm.asp?m=4566675

I needed another 10 turns at least to progress, but I'm just getting used to the combat after a long time since I played so wasn't doing a good job.

Hello GiveWarAchance,

Graniti is the name of one of the streets in the sector of the Barrikady Factory. Graniti street is perpendicular to the Volga river and runs relatively close to the Bread Factory.

In the image, the German doctor is in a Gully, 1 level lower than most of the terrain of the board. All the Gully flow into the Volga River, and some have water and others are dry. The bridge is a continuation of the street that descends even to the Gully. That is, the Gully and the bridge are on the same level.

"Row of grenades", is a Soviet army Support Weapon. It is a set of anti-personnel grenades (AP) known as RGD-33/42. You can find its full description in the Thread of "News from Heroes and Leaders mod" post 95 page 4:

tm.asp?m=4252327&mpage=4&key=#

Finally, all the Russian units, support weapons, teams, and vehicles will appear together in the PDF document "Units Catalog 1 Soviet Army" (coming soon).

Hello GiveWarAchance,

Regarding the scenario, and reviewing the last panel of the scenario (I copy it below) as well as the Scenario Victory Conditions, the Germans play at attack (as it almost always happened) despite the clear numerical inferiority (81 vs 108 units) and its force ratio (attack/defense ratio between the sum of cost points of each unit) is 80% (4:5). Finally, the German commander only has 8 turns to win, so he has to act with great energy and aggressiveness.

In your brilliant narration in After Action Reports I give you more details and suggestions about it.

That's amazing to attack with less troops into such a defensible area. I think this scenario is incredibly difficult but you are making it historical so it is par for the course. But even losing at this battle is still interesting and fun to play out. It was a very intense and fairly long battle for me in real time but I did it all at once because it is so immersive. Is your time limit based on the timing of the Soviet counterattack which inevitably ends the German attack? So basically 3 turns of enemy counterattack to gell the front line?

I have checked the scenario again and the Soviet units have freedom of action. That is, the counterattack of any Soviet unit (not only of the Guards Division) can occur at any time or not even occur. It is a decision of Artificial Intelligence.
Normally Artificial Intelligence acts prudently, even when they have orders of Berserk conduct, and as the scenario advances in time the AI becomes more active and the risk of counterattack increases. Therefore, there is no scheduled change here.
The number of turns in a scenario I determined it according to the expected difficulty for the scenario. The less time there is to achieve the objectives, the more difficult the scenario is.

In my game, near the end I noticed the factories filled up with fresh squads so those must of have been the counterattack troops coming up to the front line. There were definitely more Russian troops defending at the end of the time than earlier when I thought I had a very small hope of culling the defenders enough that I could push troops into the factories. It's interesting that the scenario is not exactly scripted and a replay could be fairly different depending on enemy activity.

Hello GiveWarAchance,

Yes, in this scenario the AI has freedom of action.
The strategy is to conquer the Victory Hexes as soon as possible to get on the defensive if an enemy counterattack occurs.

This is easier to say than to do, I know, but that is the right thing to do ...

Looks like you sent the hapless HS across the river first to draw fire to allow the follow up units to cross the river supported by fire from a MG34. Your troops managed to dodge the mortar barrage so they don't get pinned in the creek itself in full view of the factory.
