In Northern Borneo I capture Beaufort and Brunie. Both invasion forces have cruiser attachments and air cover supplied by CVLs in an Air combat TF further from shore.

In China near Taiyuan two Japanese divisions, a mixed brigade, and an artillery unit push back the Chinese 6th Group Army, routing them into a quick retreat.

In Malaya the 56th INF Rgt. Has finally caught up with the 8th Indian Brigade and 3rd ISF Base Force that retreated from Kota Bharu. I've been harassing the enemy units with aircraft to slow them down. The 56th will attack again on the 14th in an effort to "keep their tails tucked under 'em."

Lotsa movement everywhere this early in the game.

Down near Shortland I had a mini-disaster that cost me the I/66th Naval Guard. Joe ran a CL and a few destroyers over to the Solomon Islands to tap an invasion task force I had down there. For some reason the TF could not do the amphibious assault at Shortland… I was screwing around for 2-3 turns trying to figure out how to get them to unload their troops and Joe caught me. I should have just pulled everything back or immediately assigned them a new target but I went into "problem-solving" mode and forgot that I was at war and that Joe might-could want to hit them while most of my carrier forces have been plying the waters further north near Guan, the PI, and the South China Sea…

Here's a pic of the Solomons as I enter moves for the 14th.

- The I-156 sighted a TF with an xAP and several xAK near Koggala @ 31,51 under escort. My WAG is that Joe is trying to run LCU to Rangoon…

- I sent the BB Kii to bombard Wenchow. I was surprised at the fires…

Task forces break off…

- Later in the day the CVE Weser got of a flight of Ju 87c that dropped eggs on the DD Le Hardi, sinking it.

- I attacked the AF @ kwangchowan thinking Joe was running some of his flying tigers out of there. No flying Tigers but I got good hits on the AF.

- I sent Sallys at Victoria Point to attack his ground unit there.

- At Guam I'm still spanking the AF - but this is just to insure he can't build up his forts. I'm still damaging/destroying a few allied AC on the ground but Joe has not been flying anything from the AF. I call them low-hanging fruit.

- I got my first attack in at Hong Kong, dropping the fort level from III to II. The defense has a plus for Terrain and negatives for leaders and experience. Japan had no modifiers. I'd note that I've been flying transports to my units attacking Hong Kong and, while I'm not seeing much of an increase in the supply levels for the entire gaggle of LCU I have in combat operations at Hong Kong, I didn't have to rest for a turn to get my supplies back up. The 38th Division plus the support elements will have another go at it on the morrow.

- In the PI I attacked empty Teguegarao and flipped the base. San Fernando was also occupied.

○ Abemama is occupied. Sibolga, undefended, is captured by Japanese troops. Hong Kong fort level drops to 1. At Hong Kong I'm letting my troops rest a turn.

○ I hit the allied troops @ Victoria Port and Hong Kong again.

○ Joes sends a few Flying Tigers @ Chiang Mai. They are repulsed with zero losses.

○ Near Rangoon a flight of Lily hit the CL Caledon with a 100 kg SAP. There was a fire. Wow.

○ Sibolga fell to the IT Indp Tank Bn. 35 to 1 odds. There were no defenders… So there was actually a chance that Sibolga could have held against my tanks? Things that make me go hmmm.

○ I lost the DD Chen-yuen erh to a mine when I did a bombardment of Hong Kong.

○ The SS Macelle put a torpedo into the CL Ceres. I rolled a magazine explosion and then later heard sinking sounds. :-)

○ I had Bettys and Nells hit Singapore from Saigon. They were set for Naval Attack and went in w/o escort. Not a good scene. My range was too long on those bombers.

○ I'll have another go at Hong Kong per orders for the 18th.

○ I spent most of my order phase in China this turn. My nickname for China is click-bait.

○ xAK Uzan Maru arrives at Yokohama/Yokosuka

○ 300. Squadriglia Au arrives at Tokyo

○ 77th Sentai Det A arrives at Chiang Mai

○ 77th Sentai Det A sub-groups COMBINING at Chiang Mai

○ 99.Gruppo C.T. arrives at Tokyo

○ 31st Aceh Fighter arrives at Tokyo

○ 36th JNAF AF Unit arrives at Tokyo

○ CL Ceres is reported to have been sunk near Oosthaven on Dec 17, 1941

○ DD Oreleck is reported to have been sunk near Guam on Dec 09, 1941

○ AO Trinity is reported to have been sunk near Guam on Dec 14, 1941

A game hickup

Post by durnedwolf »

Hi everyone,

Just an update that we seem to have hit a hickup with naval ships being produced. Merchant shipping comes on to the table without problems but the naval ships just sit in the queue... DOCUP is trying to find a solution.

We are still plugging along while Joe tries to work out the problem with the naval ships. They seem to collect at 1 day until being completed but never make it to deployment. All the merchant ships are arriving w/o problems - it's just the naval ships.

25DEC41
- I'm using Kuantan as a bombing run to build up pilot experience

- At Guam I've raised my altitude to 15k. I still see some damage to my bombers but no losses.

- In China I've been trying to shut down Kukong AF. Joe is defending with H81-A3 plus Hawks and Buffaloes. I've got a lot of escort but those Flying Tigers are a royal pain.

- In Sumatra I'm continuing to push down towards Palembang from the north. Near Sibolga my 7th Aceh Div catches the A-IV Ld AA afd unit on the road. It surrenders after an extremely one-sided combat experience.

- In Malaya divisions have arrived and are making it to the front. The bases ahead of me keep flipping as they are undefended by the allies. Joe looks to be pulling back to Singapore.

- Takao expands port to size 5
- Chumphon expands fortifications to size 2
- xAK Kimnon Maru arrives at Amoy
- xAK Sana Maru arrives at Shanghai

- Combat Events for 12/26/41
4th Sentai sub-groups COMBINING at Vigan
8th Sentai sub-groups COMBINING at Aparri
Foong Bin 80 sub-groups COMBINING at Chiang Mai
Foong Bin 81 sub-groups COMBINING at Rahaeng

Game stopped

Post by durnedwolf »

We could not get Japanese naval ships to move from the ship yards to the game. All of the merchant ships were produced w/o problem but the naval ships would peculate down to day 1 and then just hang there. Very frustrating.

I just finished a computer VS computer test with updated files from Joe and it looks like the naval ship problem has been worked out. We'll be doing another restart.

Did you check your ship reinforcement queue in the Intel Report? The ships might finish in the shipyard and go to the arrivals queue for a delay while the galley is stocked and the newbie crew learns where everything is.

Yup. On 30DEC41 I had a CB and three DD that were stacked up with an ETA of 1 day. the CB was sitting on ETA 1 from about the 10th of December. The DDs hit Day 1 the 15th and the 18th. All xAK, xAKL, TK, etc. deployed to their arrival locations on time. It was only warships that seemed to be stuck at ETA 1.

I haven't played around much with Japanese industry, but I did learn that when I ran out of HI points lots of stuff stopped progressing. If you have a lot of army units filling out their ranks and pilots training that could use up big chunks of HI. Only suggestion I have. You might get more responses from more knowledgeable players by putting the question in the main page of this forum rather than in your AAR.

From the tracker and industry view it looks like you have zero navy points and lacking 700 points daily. Stop producing(or stop accelerating ) some ships to get in positive numbers.

This is a classic case of a mod that doesn't understand the production system and a greedy Japanese player who is not prepared to prioritise, instead wanting everything.

Read the manual.

1.  Merchantmen use up different points than do warships.

2.  There is no pool of the required inputs being generated because every turn what is produced is consumed meeting the various demands.  In short, supply is far less than what is required to meet demand.

Either reduce demand for the inputs or increase supply of the inputs.

Hi Alfred,

<laughter> - I saw the 0 points for naval and thought it was a problem with the mod. I did shut production down on a lot of naval shipping - primarily a bunch of subs and a couple of BB that come in late 1944 to see if that had an impact but I saw no results.

It's good feedback though, to give back to Joe, as it's his mod.

Just a thought though that you could work on your caustic dialog. I know for myself this game still has aspects that are a learning process. And I'd say the same probably applies for Joe. You don't have to try to put others down just to feel better about yourself. [:)]

You might get more responses from more knowledgeable players by putting the question in the main page of this forum rather than in your AAR.

I think you are spot-on with this observation - thanks.

From the tracker and industry view it looks like you have zero navy points and lacking 700 points daily. Stop producing(or stop accelerating ) some ships to get in positive numbers.

I saw that too - I just interpreted the info as a problem with the mod and naval shipping. I did stop/halt some of the naval ships but I probably needed to stop more than I did.

Thanks for your thoughts. How do you come up with 700 points that I'm lacking daily from that screenshot I shared earlier?

Ahhh 2407 - 1701... wow - that's a lot of ship points... Thanks for pointing this out to me. Right in front of my faces... Jeepers.

Yes, thats it.
Looks like you have 2M more supplies than in scn1, you can afford to convert some merchant shipyard to naval.
