Hey AllenK if you want some proper advice, then you'd do a lot worse than this.
As soon as the Grand Old Lady gets out of Bremerton, head her to Tokyo Bay, kick the crap out of the IJN (I suspect you can account for circa 50% of their CV/BB force) and then head back to the UK for tea and medals.
I trust that is of assistance old boy?
Brilliant. Can't fail.
How many VPs is Warspite worth?
The game makers did not give her a VP number on the basis that sinking her is totally and utterly impossible and if anyone claims to have sunk her then they are lying, so there.
Now Maitland, now's your time!

Indeed she can: mines, shells, glider bombs you name it she can take it, dusts herself down, and gets on with the job.

It's too bad Berlin isn't closer to the coast; Warspite could've lobbed 15" shells at it and forced an early German surrender.

Judging by the state of the US BB fleet, Warspite will be needed as much as possible in the Pacific.
Allied first turn is done and away. Game on.

Any things you care to share (especially pictures) to highlight what action you've taken this turn. What are the key things you've had to do?
I know its a bit of work to do but if you have the time it would be great to aid understanding and help follow what is going on.
Thanks

Most of it is starting the process of getting all the Allied shipping ordered and prepping Allied units for their initial dispositions in South PAC - Noumeas, Luganville, Pago Pago. Elsewhere it's trying to get stuff out of harm's way. Force Z (less a couple of DD's detached for escort duty) met up with the two CL's from Palembang and tried to hide in storms around Singkep. I might commit them to a run up to Mersing if the nasties inbound head there. I'm chancing a convoy to Kuching to pick up troops from that base.
In China, forces are on the move to concentrate in some key defensive positions. I've tried to follow the guidance given by Alfred.
In the Philippines, concentrating forces around Manilla and Clarke.
In Malaya, trying to get 11th Indian reformed at Singapore and 9th Indian reformed at Temuloh. The latter isn't ideal but is the closest base to 8th Indian Brigade, which starts at Kota Bharu and will likely be booted out shortly.

Reports come in of a stunning Japanese naval victory with many Allied CV's and BB's sunk. Consternation turns to relief when a check of the dispatches shows the location to be Hong Kong.
Night Time Surface Combat, near Hong Kong at 75,66, Range 12,000 Yards
Japanese Ships
CL Natori
DD Satsuki
DD Minazuki
DD Fumizuki
DD Nagatsuki
DD Harukaze
DD Hatakaze
Allied Ships
DD Scout
DD Thanet
DD Thracian, Shell hits 3, on fire.
However, the same Jap TF bumps into fleeing merchant TF's and sinks 6.
Big air raids on Manilla, Rangoon, George Town and Alor Starr. Lesser raids in Davao and China. The KB sweeps Pearl Harbour with 78 Zero's. The Allies knock a few down but the raids get through causing further damage to the bases and aircraft on the ground. Overall the Japanese come out on top.

Near Iba, a PT TF of 3 has three engagements with a CL/DD TF, losing two of their number. The remaining one retires to Manilla only for ...
Morning Air attack on Manila , at 79,77
Weather in hex: Heavy cloud
Raid detected at 99 NM, estimated altitude 13,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 34 minutes
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 23
G4M1 Betty x 42
Allied aircraft
P-40E Warhawk x 43
Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 4 destroyed
Allied aircraft losses
P-40E Warhawk: 3 destroyed
Allied Ships
PT-34, Bomb hits 1, and is sunk - Another aircrew faces some challenging questions about ship recognition and target priority. "Honest, we were aiming at a nice juicy tanker when it appeared from nowhere, just after we released."
TK Mindanao, Bomb hits 2, on fire
Allied ground losses:
6 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 13
Port hits 5
Port supply hits 1
In Malaya, Kota Bharu is taken. Ineffective submarine and air attacks on task forces at Kota Bharu and the inbound nasties, who appear to be headed for Mersing. We have a sub there and sent the mine-layer from Singapore to lay some eggs. It's still there and will need some luck and a sharpish escape. Force Z is undetected. I may well send them up to Mersing as it looks like there will be bad weather to help protect from the air threat. With 2 BB's confirmed from the air raids (Haruna and Kongo), it may be the death of them but the RN will not slink off into the corner and any damage they inflict may prove useful in these crucial opening stages.

RE: Payer l'addition. AllenK vs BillBrown
my two pence (not going to use cents, as I'm British)
Get all your available engineers in India and Oz to karachi, Sydney and Melbourne, and build them up first (with big forts)
You can expand outwards as it becomes clearer where he is going but always plan for the absolute worse case scenario*
*Or best, as its very hard for a IJ player to do it and it would give you lots of opportunities!

Thanks, I shall bear this in mind. I'll let them build some initial forts where they are but then redeploy some to hasten those key ones.

Losing 29 Zeros, maybe from the KB, at least half,is not good for the Japanese. His pilots are lost as they are over PH and yours make it back, mostly for further use. If his Zero lose rate continues at this pace he will be out of Zeros in a month.
RE: Payer l'addition. AllenK vs BillBrown
Okay, with a DD/APD TF in Sulu sea, heading SW towards Tawi Tawi, I've set the Houston, Boise and Marblehead TF's to combine and head towards the hex NE.
Force Z is given orders to proceed at full speed to Mersing. Two DD's repaired at Singapore will join. The RAF is tasked with LR CAP over Mersing. Perhaps we'll see the first big naval clash.
Lexington has picked up the VMF group from Wake and Enterpise is steaming to join her. I've adjusted some of the air search at Pearl, Midway and Johnson as KB moved SW and is now headed west. I'll need to keep an eye on their movements.

So the Japanese task force (yellow circle) - is this where Haruna and Kongo are (and presumably an invasion fleet)?
There appears to be shipping in the Mersing hex (red circle) - what is here? Is this just the sub and the minelayer? Is Force Z at Kuantan?

WSC to Tom Thumb: Proceed to Mersing immediately and, while there, please feel free to kick seven types of brown stuff out of whatever Japanese you find in the locale.
Dr Rumack: Good luck, we are all counting on you.

I’m assuming the actual losses are lower due to FoW but even so, not a bad start.
