Korea? Again??
RE: Korea? Again??
And, as you can see, there is a solid line waiting for me up in the north. So, I tried to rest my forces more this turn before going for the kill up there. Given that I can pick up supply points on the ports as I go north I'm not too worried about repairing bridges. And, I do have the 1st Marine division now and it has plans. Big plans.

I will have to check that out!ORIGINAL: MonkeysBrain2
That's the spirit!
AAR can be told as a story too, many talented writers were writing AAR's mostly on Paradox forums. And people truly invested effort and knowledge.

Here is the start of the next turn. Not too much going on, just more moping up.

And, just about the end of my turn. The delaying forces are almost destroyed but my troops are tired and disorganized. One bright spot is that a ROK division started it's own attacking in the center. The ROK marines are a great unit and they can cooperate with the US forces. I repaired a bridge and dropped another one near Seoul.

RE: Korea? Again??
It's the end of September and I continue to advance on the NK MLR while clearing the chaff out of the way. I have two fresh divisions (the 1st Marine and the 1st Cav). I could invade and Inchon or Wonsan as those are supply points but, Inchon in heavily guarded and Wonsan brings the risk of Chinese intervention and is far to the rear so the Marines would be on their own for awhile. I don't want them coming in any earlier than they have to.
I did get additional limited use out of the ROK troops this turn as their army slowly rebuilds.

Turn ended before I could take a photo. Suffice to say that I ran into a solid wall of NK troops. I mane one penetration south of Seoul but, alas, the Marines failed to land at inchon. I can't see any units there, but whoever they are managed to hold me off.

Near the end of my turn. Hard WWI style fighting at the NK line where I'm trying to get his units engaged. And, the marines were never going to get ashore at Inchon now that I see an entire division entrenched there so I went to the next anchorage north. I don't know if I get supply there, but I should be able to withdrawal if I need to and I hope that it provides a nice distraction. Also, whatever NK units that were there retreated the wrong way and they will not be long for the world.

RE: Korea? Again??
It's the middle of October and Korea is a grind. As you can see, there are heavy commie losses in the middle of my turn and I'm pushing him back near Seoul but he has large stacks in every hex. Still, there was a bit of a breakthrough this turn. And, it does turn out the the marines are OOS. But, they killed a couple of regiments this turn and I should (fingers crossed) be able to pull them out by sea so it will be a nice raid and it keeps Marc tied up on the sea short at the anchorages.
Supply is a real issue for me. all of the rail lines are broken and my engineers don't seem to repair those. The bridges are fixed but I'm sure rail would make life much easier.

The NK army is getting ground into powder but the UN forces are starting to take some heavy losses. As you can see, the NK line is being penetrated near Seoul and outflanked in the West. But, will Marc be able to manhandle my spearheads?

Here is how intense the battles have been. The two where Marc's forces held are over on the west front just south of Seoul.

I am just not getting any intel on the forces over near Seoul so I'm having to attack blind which is a nerve wracking experience.

RE: Korea? Again??
November continues on the Korean Peninsula and the UN forces continue their attacks on Seoul in the face of bitter and determined NK resistence. BTW, I think I know why my supply has been so bad. Partisans take control of large swaths of SK territory and that may be blocking my supply lines. The NK controlled hexes don't show up on the map, I have to move around to find them so that's what part of the SK army is doing.
Here is the map at the start of the turn, and, the first thing that jumped out at me was that there was only one infantry regiment in Inchon. I just happened to get a British brigade this turn and those lads hoped on boats joined by an American infantry regiment.

RE: Korea? Again??
As you can see, the Brits landed and captured Inchon. I also managed to get a hex next to the Seoul VP hex in a real grinding attack. Nothing on the east coast. Low supply and lots of enemy troops in the way. The last order of business was to attempt to take the hex next to Inchon to open up the supply line.

Relatively light casualties on the part of UN forces but I did not take that hex. I don't think he can retake Inchon so the fight is on for Seoul by the end of the year to avoid a NK victory.

RE: Korea? Again??
I managed to clear the hex next to Inchon in the first attack and lined up for the next one to get a road to my other forces. I really hope this can get me in supply. I've also created a cordon of units back to Pusan to help make sure that NK partisans aren't cutting my supply line back to there. A few ROK attacks in the center to push the NK back a bit where I can cost some easy losses to him. Nothing on the east coast, supply is no good.

RE: Korea? Again??
I did clear out the hex that was nearly surrounded and destroyed the units that were in there. Heavy losses among the NK troops but winter is coming. I have the Marine division resting up and will use it in the assault on the Seoul VP hex. If I can I plan to go into N. Korea to pursue total victory but the game may end before the Chinese show up. Right now I need to make sure that NK can't win (as it's currently slated to do.

RE: Korea? Again??
Seoul has been liberated and at a huge cost to the NK army. In the end I put the entire 1st marine division plus about another two UN divisions worth of troops in there along with every artillery and naval gun that could fire and every airplane that could fly.
