An anti-war movie made in Russia during the cold war. Incredibly powerful but harrowing. The story of a young boy who joins the Russian partisans and lives through German atrocities and inhuman war conditions. The realism is still unparalleled (the director used real bullets - just saying!)

The best war (or should that be anti-war) movie ever made IMO.
