In addition I made a quick test substituting overkill´s own tree by a jison "facsimile". In fact I prefer the overkill version as they seem more realist (and readying jison´s for weather will be a hell of a work) but would like to have a second opinion.

I'd definitely run with this, and agree that Overkill's trees are perfectly fine.

I don't know which one was made by who, but the left image is far superior IMO.

All looks very nice. Personally I'd tone down the swamp background a bit, its a bit too much contrast with the clear terrain. I prefer Overkill's trees, again perhaps mute the colours a bit more? I just prefer the old faded map look.

Tip for the railroads: add a pixel or two around the lines in the art tiles. This creates clearings through the forests which helps them stand out. It does create a sort of causeway across rivers, but I quite like that - I can claim its a bridge.

Thanks for the work so far

The map is looking quite nice. Overkills trees are very neat and realistic to look at and give a nice vibrant look to the map. I agree that the minor rivers are a bit too light and might need to be toned down a bit. The Ferry hex icons are looking good. Also consider increasing the contrast of the houses in the cities, they look a bit too pale.

I think TallBlondJohn really hit the hammer in the head with his suggestion of creating clearings through the woods and heavy woods hexes where rail lines go through. This was done in Jisons map mode too and made everything very clear to see as you could def tell where the rail was going through. The suggestion of toning down the swamp background to better fit with the clear hexes is a good one too.

Here is an example:

Keep up the good work!

First of all fantastic work. I can't wait to try it.

Regarding the trees both versions are nice. Personally I actually like the one on the right (I know I know I am a minority [;)]) so I suggest if possible to include both options and let users chose the one they prefer.

Thanks to all of you for your advive!, I really appreciate your time and help.

Overkill´s Pretty trees will remain as the base forest(all credit to his fantastic work).

the first "bordered rivers" were too light indeed I will release the final mod with the current ones and a easy way to use stock ones.

I LOVE the railroad path idea...now time to see if I can find the correct balance... here is the first try at it, I only changed single lines, and only with no logistic filter (so only the black version) I probably will change double ones too if the effect is right.

I will try to make cityes more visual, as for the swamps I really like them being darker than clear but will make some probes at it.

Here is my current version of your mod with vanilla rivers and mountains.

I like it!

I like what your doing with the rail lines. The swamp is fine the way it is IMO.

@vilcum: It is looking a lot better like this. Looking forward to seeing the other versions. Maybe look into changing the city/town names so they are also a bit more visible.

Would it be possible to "highlight" the text and maybe the railroads with a lighter color like in the Jison map for WitE1
Also I like the darker swamps as swamps have more vegetation than open terrain. Not sure if I prefer the original swamp because I think as it fit more with the top down naturalistic look.

Just finished sending the lumberjacks to double lines, and to somewhat fiish smoothly single ones. Also increase saturation on towns (they were really pale)

As for the names , there is little I can do, it seems you cannot change font COLOR (this map would really need white/clear fonts)...
I tested some strange highlighted ones but they are too intrusive to my like (included some tests in the screenshot)

I agree white lettering would be best, so I posted this as a suggestion in the Bright Ideas thread of the Dev section. No promises, but at least the question is raised. Personally the bottom right ones to me are a big 'no'. Too overwhelming.

I love the overall look of the map, and the way the single line track is coming out now. One small bit of nitpicking: where lines cross they are not connecting now, which looks a bit off.
