Thanks to metaphore. I still would like the Soviet Naval units added and fixed.

These ones:

What do you want to be fixed exactly?

Making new counters, or modifying existing (specific) ones, should be done by moding the source file where units are defined with their background color, symbol and size. It can't be done by changing the generic graphical template for game counter colors, symbols, etc.

It's not possible with this mod which doesn't deal with specific units but generic defined template colors. In fact, you could change ALL the Soviet Regular units OR Guard units Background to whatever color you like more but you can't pick one of a kind without changing all of them.

Actually, the soviet Naval units don't have a specific background color affected as it's the same as any regular unit. You really don't want all your regular Soviet units turning Black, do you?

Now, it's probably possible to change it by other means but it won't affect the default game settings like this mod is doing. You'll have to use the editor to change such settings (if it's possible) and save it as a new game scenario.

Well, I tested it for the 1st Naval Infantry Brigade which is garisoned in Tallinn at the start of GC41... now it's a nice black counter with everything well displayed:

But it's also a German unit!.... (printscreen is from German turn 1 and the Naval Brigade is showing up on German sidebar).
It's normal as I've changed its settings to German Elite-SS, hence, it can be displayed with a black background.

Now, there is only one option to have different Soviet counters which is "Guard". So, it might be difficult to set up something for Naval units.
One solution would be to use one of the western Allies settings to make those Naval black suits (plenty of minor allies are already defined but not used), and they would at least be on the same side as the Soviet :)

Nonetheless, this would probably won't work for everything else (beside the cosmetic change) like Command, replenishment, etc.

For my new counters board war game mod I used the WITE2 counters and redid those so mine has no issues, I just didn’t re color all the Allied counters (US, UK, FF etc)

That's what I did too to fix the initial set:
fb.asp?m=5085673

WITE1 used different templates, so I changed that by using WITE2 ones.

The last issue discussed isn't related to those templates but to the way counters are defined into the engine. The Soviet player is limited to the use of only 2 different background colors (Regular and Guard) while the German can use many more (Elite, SS-Elite, SS-non-Elite, LW,...).

I didn't find anything useful in order to edit those national specifications. It seems to be hard coded or not accessible thru the Game Editor.
