RE: slowdonwn after playtime
sorry to say this - but i get an assault from an anonym guy for full valid questions (the game engine CANT handle 4k self ... and an tech problem) - get shady insinuations for this (it is NO 4k problem ... the game runs fine on all 20 PCs i have with 4k and over ..you dont write perfect english so i make funy things over you ..this can only be interpreted as > you only talk lies and bulls*it) and then get again more from this .... Very helpfull here i musst say .....
Back to the real helpfull people...
here is the Video : https://youtu.be/aVMPmfo6DRY
It is realy not much going on here - it is only a small scenario with few units
You see at the start, with still pause game time, it runs nice and smooth (except the "4k problem" )
then i show the settings for the map and view
then i start Tacview ....
after this, i switch (or try) to an seperate msg window - then i show it is NO window appeared , and switch back to the integrated msg window
then i unpause the game ... and show how smooth it runs actual
show a couple of tacview gfx problems ...
after 9min i search the menu option to clear the msg log - and doing it ... (but thats nothelp at all)
then it starts noticable to slow down a little - not extrem - but it scrolls not more so smooth as from start - and it have simply nothing changed in game (more units/more fight ...)
over the whole time, tacview stay smooth and fluid ..
after 11:30 min it gets clearly even slower and with more shutter - the scrolling is horrible and so the zoom in/out
at 15:45 min around i save the game - and here you see how slow the save window is come .. as example i show my windows drawer window to see the system is in no way affected (tacview still smooth)
And as a serious side note to an mod or staff - can the game be refunded ?
It is not only the tech problem (this will be fixed) - and not only the 4k problem (but this have me realy shocked .. and i dont know if an fix even planed) - but all in one, with this "helpfull" forum, dont make the gaming an nice experience - for an so expensive game ...
(the staff/mod can see which games i own , and only one from this "Order of Battle WW2" have worked flawless on 4k)
Regards

Perhaps we have discovered yet another "alter ego" created to obfuscate and stir the forum waters. Just saying...
You can check the IP numbers to be sure Wayne. [8D]

Ok check out the video. German windows, lot of matrix games in the directory and a youtube account going back 4 years. So not me or anybody else.
Best way to help him is to get him to a dev.
Thanks

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
Best way to help is he deliver a coherent message and stop being a jerk. That might help a lot more.

I think we are all better for that because you don't seem to have the discipline.
RE: slowdonwn after playtime
One of the best things to do to what the issue might be is turn on the diagnostics bar and see where the pulse time starts to go crazy. I think that might help narrow down the issue.
RE: slowdonwn after playtime
have managed to get back the "Seperate msg log" window by deleting the associated line in the config file ( config/command.ini )
maybe if the values here are out of expected values, the window dont open at all > an bug
as a side note - i like the log as "Raw Text" (faster to read) - but the window get after close/restart game back to "interactive text" - would be nice to stay on the last selected option

For the UI alignment problems: This is clearly a high-DPI issue (FWIW, it runs fine here on 4 different Win10 systems with high-DPI desktops). I assume at 1920x1080p the UI elements align correctly? If you can share your dxdiag file this would give us more information about your system. Also is this on Steam or Matrix-installed?
Some potential solutions:
* This: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4190908
* Check if your display settings include font-enlargement (this is often separate from desktop UI scaling).
* Try bypassing the "launcher" exe. To do this, create a shortcut on your desktop that points to [CMO]\Command.exe . Try running the game by using this shortcut instead of the "normal" one.
For the slowdown problem:
* Looking at the video you posted, the simulation slowdown _seems_ to coincide with distortions in the sound effects. This leads me to suspect there may be an issue with sound. If you completely disable sound effects & music (Game Options --> Music/Sounds), does the slowdown still happen?
* Also: If you temporarily switch your desktop to 1080p and play the same scenario, does the slowdown problem persist? (Trying to understand if the slowdown is caused by the 4K-related misalignment dragging down the entire UI & sim.)

Just to close the loop...
Ran Battle of Dang Hoi on two different systems at the same time.
i9-10950K with a 2080 Super and 32 GB of RAM. Rez is 1920x1080. Just used this as a control.
Surface Book 3 with an i7 and a 1660, 16GB RAM. Rez 3000x2000, DPI scale override by System.
On both systems ran for just over an hour. Ran both with TacView on, but didn't fiddle with it. Both had sound off (my default). No special map overlays on either. The i9 ran at 0-1ms pulse and the Surface ran at 1-4, with a few skips up to 15ms with missiles in the air at the beginning. No slow downs. In fact, the surface seemed to run a little faster once air threats and missiles boats were destroyed.

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
will try to disable sounds, and will set my desktop to FullHD and then look it is slow down (if the no-sounds dont fix it) .... report then
for the dpi problem in general > have an older Win10 version - it have only the basic dpi helping options that have Win7 and Win8 - cant update
(was an update from Win7 to Win10 - then sometimes it stoped to update further - only solution would be fresh new install of win10, and all programms , and as i use the PC for work, and none of my other programs actual have problems with the out-of-date Win10 version - i wait if i get a new PC and then install fresh W11 from start, would cost a week to install all - to much work for no benefit actual ..)
So the actual "only" solution, let the OS handle the game dont work for me ... as a side question ... is a real integration of "4k res" in the game even planed ?
So it can startet (like ALL other games, expect 2 or 3 from 15 years before..) without any changes on compatibility settings ??
[or the option to get on his own fullscreen with own resolution - this would not fix the 4k problem - but then it is not bound to the desktop resolution]

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
So its not a "4K" issue?
RE: slowdonwn after playtime
the slowdone self not - it happens on FullHD desktop too (and with disabled sound - more or less - as i wrote, sound is not "full" off - every msg make an "ping" - not was i expect from disabling all game sounds ....)

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
WHen I shut sound off through options, I'm pretty sure there is no ping on messages. But its been a couple years since I even checked.
I just confirmed that when I shut sound off, its all off for the game. No pings for contacts. So there is definitely something wrong with your setup.

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
mhh .... strange .... will make video ....have self thinked this is strange - switch off sound and still sound ....
RE: slowdonwn after playtime
The only thing my uneducated but experienced thinking can come up with is that your game is trying to write to the CMO config file and its in a location that is read only. But that only explains the sound issue, not the slow down issue. So you seem to have a number of issues that would make me consider a reinstall.
1) Screwed up text and layout
2) Slow down on simple scenarios where no one else is seeing the issue
3) Can't shut sound off
I don't say reinstall lightly. I know its a pain. But unless the devs come in with some magic, its all I can think of. Make sure you have read over the pinned threads at the top of the tech support section. They have been built through the experience of the devs and customers.

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
have found the culprit of the "ping" - it is (sadly - this would help) not my fault ...
If you switch to "RAW Text" in the logs you get the "ping"
With "Interactive Msg" it is full silent (as it should)
To the location - i know this potential problem and install none of my games on "C:" - all are on an seperate HD
So from your list :
1) Screwed up text and layout
2) Slow down on simple scenarios where no one else is seeing the issue
3) Can't shut sound off
>
1) comes from , sorry to say this again, an engine that cant handle res over FullHD self , and relay here on an OS function, only newer Win10 systems have - No Win7 or Win8 have this function - so as KnightHawk75 have said, he is imho on Win7 , the "fix" dont work here as Win7 have this not ... the same is on my Win10 , it have this not .. so if the engine self not support 4k...
2) this is truly a mystery ..... maybe i should thinking over an reinstall .... in hope it helps
3) this i have explained above - its only "ping" in "RAW Text" style

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
Just ran it with message log in raw text format and pings with sound on, silent with off in options. Tried it three times on separate scenarios. Tried it on 1147.27 and .30.
One thing to be careful of is even if you turn sound off, the next message will ping. After that its silent.

RE: slowdonwn after playtime
btw, did you change the DPI settings like was suggested. Again, I'm running on Win10 at 3000x2000 with no issues.
