Yes it doesn't matter for Germany as you can change it anyway on T1. But for Soviets it does.

Thank you for pointing this out :)

Is it better for a Soviet side to have it locked or unlocked? Most house rules says locked, so this is to prevent additional SU distribution to a HQs that might get trapped in a pockets?

I haven't studied it directly but what are the settings for the Soviets when they get the turn? Would having it unlocked allow some flow to higher HQ's if the unit is trapped but not surrounded? I think unlock would be a better setting but that is just me mind mapping this in my pea brain. Maybe the smart people can chime in on this.

I have no experience playing Soviets in GC, so i have no idea what settings do they have :)

If HQs are not in a pocket - you can transfer units as you want, so it will not make any difference for a Soviet side. Unless people want to keep SU into a HQs to prevent CPP lose that you get when you transfer them.

I convert all on map Bf110-2's bombers to fighters. I also don't forget LG2 this time to retrain from bomber to fighter :). These planes will return after 8 turns of re-training.

I set my fighters to trained pilots only. Rest of my air fleet will be set to normal.

Just like in my last AAR game I am bombing. I don't care about the quantity killed in the initial air onslaught, although by the end I will hit 4,000 +/- 250. I will be keying "only" on the fighter bases that are close to the front line during the bombing. I will be using the closet bombers to bomb with an altitude of 4,000 in the south and most of the center and 7,000 mostly in the north. I will not be flying any escort s other than one mission which will escort JU-87's. Just like I mentioned in my last AAR the AI LOVES to intercept the Dive bombers & thus why I will escort them but will take the chance on the others.

I run the bombing I had set up and got the following results. The results are less than what I got last time in my AAR but will work just fine. I should still get close to 4k where I want to be. Now I will just let the fighters shoot down the un-escorted bombers to get all the kills to raise their skill and morale. Thus why I just went after the fighters just like last AAR

Just like clockwork the AI decides to intercept the JU-87's. Of course I have my fighters as escort since I knew they would most likely commit on them. The lucky Soviet b-tards shot down a 109 though :(. No other bombing runs were intercepted except for this one instance.

Of course I am moving these two very important RAD units to Russia. They will arrive turn 3 & in their place I have sent two normal construction units to Norway.

So have been doing the ground war with my fighter intercepting. I reached over 4K worth of kills so far (photo attached but feel this will be close to max numbers since my fighters are not intercepting any longer). but I have noticed that even though most of my fighters are not fatigued the fighters just won't engage more incoming bombers. What I did notice that after I left the front area that the fighters started to intercept again. I am beginning to think that the fighters are tied to a vicinity area of intercept. Of course this is just theory on my part but I have noticed the pattern. Could be totally out in left field or there is still an issue why intercepts are NOT intercepting when these fighters are well supplied & non-fatigued and Soviet bombers within 2-3 hexes of my fighters base. /shrug. Feel free to comment if you know something I might have missed while I have been away. Thank you much!

**** Note these are NOT the final numbers since I still have a great deal of movement to do. I have exceeded my last AAR numbers in this AAR with VERY low losses to Germany :). (The AAR I am referencing is here post 77 https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5076862

You can see that only a few of my fighters are fatigued into the mid teens. But most of the others should still be capable of interception but are not doing so. Thus why I am "speculating" zone saturation of intercepts. But the minute I go past a specific number of hexes these fighters will then intercept. Again, all speculation on my part and probably totally wrong. But I will eventually figure it out.

I have made some very nice progress on my fighter Morale and experience. Fighters need your tender loving care, if you take care of them they will take care of you :)

The only thing I can think of is if your percent required to fly and or escort AC percent have been exceeded?

I think the defaults are 20, 100 and 100. I have tweaked them down to 10, 100 and both 100, 50 and 25 in the past and saw interceptions. Not sure if that is the issue, or if they are out of range or if there fuel is spent or if the miles flown are exceed?

Just guesses...

Ya, I thought the same and changed the % before posting. I will sleep on it and see what comes to mind after a nights sleep

Still does not explain why the same fighters, before I changed the setting lower, intercepted further out than the area they were intercepting in up close. Anyway, going to bed. Good night all and thanks for listening to my rumblings

I will be updating this AAR with some more info later tonight. But first I want to take a moment and send Zovs well wishes and prayers during this time of a suffering family member. Please take a moment and send Zovs a message. I am sure he would appreciate the support during these times.
