Users have to allow the interface to show their presence with the setting in their User Control Panel.
Even at that it doesn't seem to show more than the User and a 'guest' at any time.
I agree that it is not a needed feature for me, but some might like to greet old hands who show up.
OK, I see it. I think it was on top in the old one, that was where I was looking.

I just double-checked, and I am set to "No" for hide my presence. People should be able to see when within whatever the parameters are.

I have had some good PM chats with people on at the same time over the years easy to do when you notice your both online at the same time.

Although the last board left you online for a long time depending upon how you exited the forum.

Also, it was occasionally useful in its last iteration to make sure I wasn't in the wrong AAR.

Click on Notifications and you can tell them to mark as read or something like that. I did it this morning but forget the exact wording it uses.

As I recall there was a button below the boxes, but after the notice is quieted the button goes away.

I have 6 messages that I can't clear. And I don't get email notifications when a new message comes in....GP

are you talking about Notifications (what I answered for) or Private messages?

I had Notifications, and when I clicked on Notifications they were listed plus at the bottom was some term like 'clear' or something similar. When I clicked on that the red number went away.

OK.

One correction to what I wrote earlier, when the item to clear notifications is present, it is not a button below the list of notifications, it is a link (text) at the top of the list. Don't have a screen pic, hope that's good enough.

The read notifications disappear after a time. The only problem I'm having now is I'm not getting email notifications when I have a message....GP
