R-S, you must not be aware of Ranger Joe's infamous posts of pictures of his foot - badly damaged by melanoma cancer and the surgery to remove it. There is no way he could go to Ukraine that I can see. He has just chosen not to return to the board and that is all I want to say about the situation.

Thanks GP. The board culture may have changed a bit with the new bulletin board management, but I hope he will find it is still a great place to hang out. :)

Well, I think it would be nice if RangerJoe returned, and shared his insights once again.

But, if not, then that is fine as well. Just hearing that he is well is good enough. Thank you.

Might do as well.

Have seen that stuff back in days. It is nasty.

Yes, but the picture of the foot was placed over a plate of spaghetti with red sauce that was getting grated fresh parmesan cheese put on it! :o

Always. You see, it is the attitude not the age nor the equipment - or the lack thereof!

The Polish-Lithuanian forces were outnumbered by more than 5 to 1. So after the Russian Uhlans first rank fired their weapons and fell back to rearm so the second rank could fire, the Polish-Lithuanian Winged Hussars fired then charged. The Polish-Lithuanian forces spent the next winter in Moscow.

The battle of Vienna in 1683:

Climbing a mountain in the dark, with no road, hauling artillery and horses up there with all of the ammunition and the equipment. Then the world's largest known Cavalry charge led by 3,000 Polish Winged Hussars whose armour was bullet proof with the weapons at the time. The armour was tested by firing a gun at it and if the bullet penetrated the armour, it was not accepted.
