1813 and Korea are neck-and-neck for second place. I was never a big fan of the Napoleonic Era. Then my brother got into Napoleonic 15mm miniatures...and I followed along. Then I discovered Kevin Zucker's board games. Struggle of Nations and 1813 then became a bottomless pit for my wargame dollars for years--George Nafziger books and OBs, miniatures, paints, washes, brushes, and geo-hex terrain. Good times. 1813 is my favorite Napoleonic campaign. A great operational dilemma for both sides.

I enjoy Napoleonic's as well, but I do think that the Korean War of 1950-53 is sorely lacking and would be a great addition by your team.

I like them both--1813 and Korea. The people will vote their wallets.

Tet Thua Thien: I Corps Vietnam 1968 is another personal favorite of game-able historical events. Much happened in Thua Thien Province besides the Battle of Hue. Really like exploring this moment in history.

Interesting poll and of course I voted.
So far the highest number of votes is 19, is this a large number for you development team members?

I know it depends on the pricing, but how many units per title do you need to sell to stay in business?
If it is a trade secret, you don't have to answer.

1000+ units sold on release is my measurement of success because I do the work. Matrix/Slitherine have their own measurements of success I'm sure.

1813 Campaign takes Number 2 today. So what is it all about? Here's a good synopsis:

I did that. Operation Market-Garden might be interesting, too, but ... is the future really yet another WW2 title?
Can WEGO not go boldly where no one has gone before?

I would love to see some WW1 battles in WEGO but WW1 is not in your poll.
WEGO Napoleonic or other pre-WW2 done as well as Stalingrad certainly will be a buy for me.
Yet another WW2 title ... probably not.

Over 100 votes. 1813 Campaign strengthens its position as Number 2 against Operation Market-Garden and the Korean War 1950-51. Tell your gamer friends to register their votes!

No, it hasn't. The horse has never been "beaten to death" correctly. It has always been done within the limits of a paper boardgame map stuck in a box...which misses the entire 21st Army Group context--every single time.

Now the Number One is Market-Garden and Number Two is 1813 Campaign. Let Democracy rule the day! Tell your WEGO friends it is time to vote. One month left in the voting window. Speak your wallet.

I think Operation Uranus in WEGO format would be awesome. Trying to extract German units while trying to retain the crossing at Kalach while fending off the Russian pincer drives would show how hard it would have been to save the Sixth Army.

Agree. Our original plan for WEGO WW2: Stalingrad was to cover the period between July 1942 and February 1943. In fact our original ALPHA scenarios were all from Operation URAN. However, the number of scenarios required to cover this entire period plus the new campaign capability made playtesting the whole--problematic. I'm glad we decided to cut the whole in half; WEGO is a realistic gaming system that folks have trouble wrapping their heads around. More wasn't going to be better or best.

Top Three...to date:

1. Market-Garden
2. 1813 Campaign
3. War in Korea

You know you HATE this line-up. So get off your duff and get your friends to vote for YOUR favorite next WEGO.

Less than a month to go...

Looking at this ... with still some time to go, perhaps it is worthwile to reflect a bit on the numbers so far. Market Garden is ahead but we can read the data in more than one way.

For example, at this moment, of the 122 votes, there are 61 for the five WW2 scenarios and 61 for the five non-WW2 scenarios. You could also phrase this as: "50% of the voters so far prefer a [make your choice: WW2 / non-WW2] title". That is impressive either way :)

Or, if we ignore for a moment the two most popular scenarios (1813 and Market Garden) to see what the rest of us prefer, there is slightly more interest in non-WW2 (41 votes) than WW2 (37 votes).

Two of the five WW2 scenarios (Channel Ports and Husky) indeed get very little interest at all – even the bottom non-WW2 title, Vietnam, is more popular than both of them.

And, if we ignore Market Garden, which is a bit of an outlier in the WW2 scenarios anyway, then the 3 black powder subjects alone (Napoleonic and Gettysburg) get more votes than all of the 4 remaining WW2 scenarios combined. Wow!

And so on. Whatever your choice is, you are in good company.

In other words, no matter how you read this, you could say that the votes so far suggest considerable interest not specifically in Market Garden, but in WEGO overall – both (some) WW2 and (solidly) non-WW2 before and after.

The poll is still open of course, and it remains to be seen which approach will be most viable economically.

Considering the broad interest across periods, would it be possible to develop the Editor such that users can create scenarios of their choice in any of these periods? And share their new scenarios with other players? :D It might help foster an even bigger and active WEGO community around your game, and for a longer period.

Very interesting observation and I fully agree with the idea:

I understand (from your Map Making thread) that your WEGO engine already can support conflicts at the operational level from the Napoleonic Era to the Cold War circa 1985. That is interesting. Would it be possible to expand and include a flexible editor so that more users can easily create scenarios of their choice for your WEGO system in any of these periods?

This could take the form of a new game with some base scenarios (hopefully more than one from this poll :D ) and with this broad, powerful scenario editor. That would then allow players who wish to do so to build and tweak new scenarios in addition to the ones in the box. So, to expand WEGO.

Technically, I think it would be great if we can create, share and download community scenarios in any period from within the base game. This can then develop in several directions. (I personally am across the spectrum and would try various WW1 and Napoleonic battles but also play Korea scenarios occasionally). The editor and database could evolve in steps. You might even include some good user scenarios in future versions and get a snowball rolling.

Some other games see a lot of community activity around scenario development and modding. Your poll so far seems to suggest there is no single majority but interest in more than one period - so, perhaps an interest in more playable scenarios than just the one with 24 out of 122 votes (still open and counting though... :) ). Something for the community?

Not sure what is feasible based on your current code and plans. Could something like this help open up your WEGO system to more - and more diverse - players faster than a single title could?
