Turn 7. Smolensk, Kiev, and Pskov all fall this turn.

Blue also abandons the blitzkrieg strategy in favor of the combined arms deliberate attack strategy.

An appropriate meme.

We can't let Blue have all the fun though now, can we? We try our own combined arms tactics.

Another turn, another 100,000 lost. Just your average Eastern Front action.

Image

The Vyazma meatgrinder continues, our ill-planned attack on the Fleiger division might result in the loss of units north of Kiev, and Nikolaev is surrounded. German armored elements also reach the outskirts of Bryansk.

100,000 is not going to cut I am afraid :( Germans need higher, much higher to have an effect on what needs to be done.

Turn 9. Light mud at Leningrad. The Vyazma meatgrinder continues, Bryansk falls, and the noose tightens around our men north of Kiev. A sad loss. Nikolaev is also once again surrounded.

Turn 10. No significant developments, besides Talinn falling this turn. Unfortunately no routs, so they displaced to the neighbouring hex.

A closer look at what the brave men on the western front are facing.

Great success, we cut the Smolensk rail and kill two axis commanders. Unfortunately I lack any more units for deeper penetration.

Soviet Mobility - or how I learned to love cavalry
Image
Here we see the soviet cavalry in it's natural habitat - lurking on the flanks of the German army and slowly edging closer every turn to surprise them.
Image
Image

The cavalry edges closer - it has spotted it's prey, HQs and rail lines.

Image

And it strikes! Unfortunately all commanders escaped well, but still it is a disruption.

Image

Having heard the call to hunt, more Soviet cavalry descend upon the flanks.

Image

More HQs displaced, unfortunately a single hex short of cutting off the entire thrust.
Image
Elsewhere, Soviet cavalry isolate 2 German divisions allowing for subsequent routs by Rokossovosky. The 3rd is hit and forced to retreat.
Image
And south-west of Kursk we cut off the German tip.

Image

A successful hunt.

Blue has indicated a desire to restart, so we'll probably be doing that.

My unbeaten soviet winstreak continues.
