Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T8 round 1 and this is the situation in the Hong Kong area. I finally have enough Chinese and Chicom units in this AO to give the Japs some grief. I'm capturing the ports along the eastern coast and as soon as I can move units via the sea I can supply some reinforcements.

It's now T15 round 7 and this is the situation at Guadalcanal. I invaded last turn and I've been pushing north to clear the island of Japs. He's got some armour but no arty. I've got the CA New Orleans ( R2 ) and the Australian CL Leander ( R1 ) to support. Units of the 6th Australian Division are making progress with the aid of lots of arty support.

It's now T16 round 1 and this is the situation at Hong Kong which I captured four turns ago and now all the Japs in this image are out of supply. I've been using the Chinese to push the Japs backward very slowly with high losses but the Chinese have a boat-load of reinforcements and can afford the losses. The Japs can't. The Japs are defending west of Hong Kong with an engineer unit which means that the Japs are strapped for troops. I've already captured a lot of ports on the east coast so reinforcements have lots of places to land on the continent.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's still T16 round 1 and this is the situation in northern China near Wuchang I've been using the Chicoms to surround or contain the Japs and the Chicoms have a more stout unit than the Nationalist Chinese and have no problem standing up to the Japs and can even push them around and every once in a while can actually destroy a Jap unit if there are enough Chicom units attacking. It's going to take a long time to clear this area of Japs.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's still T16 round 1 and this is the situation near Bangkok. I sailed the 1st Inf Bde of the 23rd Indian Infantry Division from Calcutta into a port that I opened via one of my DD's and then moved across the width of the panhandle and stopped up the flow of supply to all the Jap units in Malaya. Next turn I'm thinking of moving that brigade up to Bangkok and capturing the port and all the airfields.

It's still T16 round 1 and this is the situation near Singapore. Using the British BB Ramsees I managed to sink all the Jap DD's that were surrounding the waters around the port making it difficult to evacuate my troops via the sea. But now that the ships are gone my troops can hold their own. This is the configuration of the forces involved for the last 15 turns or so. I'm not attacking the Japs at all and everytime they attack me they lose more than I do.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T17 round 1 and I just now captured Bangkok, the ports, and both airfields. Come to think of it, I need to do some research to find any RR engineers I may have in my inventory and get them busy repairing all the rails I've captured. You can see on the right side of the image that I've blown the bridges near Phnom Penh and now I need to grab the airfields there and convert the rail leading up to Bangkok. And then repair it.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T18 round 1 and this is what's going on at Pyongyang right now. I'm the blue dots in this image and shows my having just flown the 39th Bomb Group ( early B-17's R39 ) to the capital of North Korea which is well within range of some of the home islands of Japan. I've been moving my partisans along the coastal road and I've captured Port Arthur on my way to Pyogyang. BTW, I found two pontoon units that just happened to have RR engineers as part of the unit and I'm planning on using both of them to repair the rail all the way to Pyongyang. As it is now the supply level is very low and won't support operations, which means I'll have to continually rotate bomber units in and out of that airfield depending on how tired it is.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T18 round 4 and this is what's going on at Chengchow, Northern China right now. The Chicoms are holding their own so far and about every third turn they even can destroy Jap units. The supply level on the repaired rails is 14 and is about 4 where the fighting is going on and zero at the tip of the spear. These are slow motion battles. The Jap units are hurting for supply and I'm not much better off.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T19 round 2 and this is what's going on near Rabaul right now. I had planned on using the Australians to take back the smaller islands in the Port Moresby area but I soon ran out of available Australians and started filling in the gaps with American troops. There are battles going on all of the smaller islands down to and including Guadalcanal. I drive into a port that will allow my naval unit which converts the port to my control and then I ship a lot of troops to that open port to create a footprint on the island. Some islands don't have any open ports and I'll have to do an amphibious landing on those. Fortunately, they are few.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T21 round 1 and I've obviously done something wrong. The game engine is turning on the Kamikazes. Fortunately the Japs don't have any CV's any longer so my main threat would be land based aircraft. Bettys, Nells, etc. This game just got a lot harder. I don't dare sail close to Jap aircraft any longer.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T21 round 8 and this is what it looks like in the Rabaul area right now. The supply levels on these islands is low and doesn't do much to help the take down. I thought I'd bring in the Subchaser ships to do some light bombardment for all the good it might do. The problem with bringing the Subchasers to this AO exposes them to air strikes and I've already lost about half a dozen of those kind of ships.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T25 round 1 and this is what it looks like in the Hanoi area right now. The supply levels are low for the Chinese and nonexistant for the Japs. The problem here is that the Japs don't want to give up and are continually attacking me, actually pushing my units northward. But they are getting worn down slowly and there will come a time when the units from both sides can't make any headway at all. I've got to drive an engineer unit or two to this AO to repair all those dropped bridges and somebody to repair the rail.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's still T25 round 1 and this is what it looks like in the South China Sea area right now. The Japs captured Rangoon and I captured Saigon and Nha Trang and Bangkok. My goal is to clear out all the enemy units from Mandano and then jump to the Phillippines and then clear that of enemy units and from there I guess would be Taiwan next.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's still T25 round 1 and I have moved a heavy bomber squadron to northern China and I found an airport that may possibly be out of range of any Japanese aircraft but still within range of Jap targets. The squadron I moved, the 43rd Bomb Group, has only 12 B-24's so it doesn't have the combat power to cause any significant damage so I need to find a suitable target for this squadron. Maybe Jap industry.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's still T25 round 1 and I didn't mean to but I've investigated the land-based air power of he Japs in the west sector of the Jap Home Islands and I've found it overwhelming. I embarked a partisan unit at Port Arthur and was sailing it toward Korea and the Japs launched an overwhelming air strike and sank the AP that held my partisans. D'oh. But I did gain some intelligence about Jap air power from the event.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
Hello Larry, thanks a lot for posting this interesting AAR. May i ask if this scenario is the same as the PAcific at War 1941-1945 v3.63 that comes with the TOAW4 game? And is it programmed PO for both allied & Japanese? thank you.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
Hey there Fulcrum dude:
I've made a few minor changes to the stock scenario that comes with the game and I'm playing my changed version. I'm posting it here below. And no, there's no Allied PO. Sorry. But there IS a JAP PO. There's just so much that can be done with all the units that programming a PO for either version is a major challenge. I'm really enthused about this scenario however. It's a good one. Download the attachment and move the specific files and folders to the appropriate spot(s).

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's now T27 round 1 and I've been snipping at the Jap TF's and have been fortunate to eliminate all the Jap ships except for the last 4 small naval units, probably CL's or DD's or both. Once all these naval units are gone the rest of the Jap sea-borne fleet will be subchasers if any still exist. That makes the biggest Jap threat it's land-based aircraft, mostly in the Jap home islands. I need to find a way to kill them all without major losses to myself. Sounds like I need to bombard them with my ships.

Re: Pacific At War ( with programmed PO )
It's still T27 round 1 and this is what it looks like around Rabaul right now. As you can see the supply level is really low on the island of New Britain but it seems to be okie dokie near Salamua. I think if I capture all the ports on an island that the Japs will be without supply and that would make it a LOT easier to take them down.
