Yeah, that sums up my experiences with the Japanese AI as well. There is a certain banzai charm to how it keeps making futile assaults over and over, but it definitely has no situational awareness of the need for proper escorts or beachhead protection. A lot of its attacks on Chinese airfields in the face of the AVG have the same charm as well. I also don't have much faith that all the hoopla we keep hearing about AI nowadays will make any difference for this type of game in the near future.
