Thanks for sharing your thinking, Desert Wolf. Another question, if you don’t mind:

- Timing wise it was close to the end of the amphib bonus period and I was expecting some kind of phase 2 operation

From your AAR it appears that the invasion of India took place in the 2nd week of April. I understood that the Japanese bonus finished at the end of March. Have I misunderstood your AAR, misunderstood your thinking, or am I misunderstanding the assault bonus?

That prediction was down to the base having a level 2 airbase + level 3 port already built up, and I further enticed him by placing a single division there so he had the opportunity to land directly on top of it and overwhelm it with numerous IJA divisons. Figuring this out allowed me to flank speed my cruisers into Calicut right as his transport convoys arrived there.

I think there’s a warning here to any of us planning a landing - the best place to land may also be the most obvious

Apparently the end of the amphib bonus is the end of April

Not something I knew but there you go

As Encircled noted, we took a look at the code a few months ago and found that the amphibipus bonus is until the end of April.

Damn, those battles were murderous!

Well done!

Haven't been updating this AAR, but as the game has now concluded, I wanted to bring some closure to the thread.

In the months since the India events I discussed above, Loka switched gears and invaded Australia. This opened a window for me to go on a major counteroffensive in the Central Pacific, taking the Gilbert Islands and seizing Kusaie Island. This then forced KB to transition to defending this direction of attack, allowing me to prevent further reinforcements from reaching Australia and closing in on the half a dozen divisions + there. At this point, Loka resigned. My proudest acheivement this game? China is in trouble but still standing despite playing a no house rules game.

Yup. In your example, DW, you basically won the war with your very astute defense of Calicut. I stopped counting after about ~100,000 IJA troops drowned at sea. An inestimable loss for the IJA so early in the war.
