You cannot just disband the unit with no recall? Or is that not an option ...

Under 28.4 both the AVG and pilots are US army NOT US marine. They are also just standard units' nothing special so you can do whatever you want with them as per normal from day one. Here the US army reserve on day one after transferring all pilots from AVG/1 to the reserve.

Most of us in this discussion are experienced vets who are well aware that the AVG pilots are Army, not Marine.

It's getting Boyington out of the Army and into the Marines that is the topic of discussion.

Would be nice if could get pilots from TRACOM to different branches.

I didn't check if that'd actually be possible even now.

Misunderstood and sorry I spoke but why would you do that?

Because Greg "Pappy" Boyington who was a Marine pilot decided his career in the Marines wasn't going anywhere, resigned his commission prior to December 7th and joined the American Volunteer Group.

Technically, the pilots of the AVG didn't belong to any branch of the US Military, they were private citizens who volunteered to fight for a foreign power. The game, not being structured to allow for this puts the AVG pilots in the US Army.

After December 7th, Boyington left the AVG, returned to the states and attempted to rejoin the Marines. Some petty beaurocrats, in order to punish him for abandoning the Marines in the first place, delayed his reentry into the war for almost two years.

After finally succeeding in getting recomissioned, he was sent to the South Pacific where he cobbled together his own squadron from spare planes and went on to become one of the leading Aces of the war with 26 kills.

Players have always bemoaned the fact that he is stuck being an army pilot in the game. GP has apparently found a work around that allows him to become a Marine.

Finally managed to save Boyington for a while, he got one kill getting him to 81 exp and eligible to be transferred to TRACOM.

He'll be more useful in Port Moresby in future, Army or not...

How about going into the editor and putting in an end/withdrawl date for Boyington and Howard, among others?

The airframes can be used by Chinese units.
