WiS players: do you recommend WiTP:AE?

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Both seem to be geographically on your patch.
Got both, but none is installed today, and I only faintly remember these games.

But I politely propose, we should end this little off-topic discussion. The thread is about WIS and WitTP:AE, not old AGEoD games.
Also, I guess most readers here are not interested in reminiscences of games mostly long forgotten. :)
Well, someone complained because to take a break from from WIS that I would play some older DOS games. He stated that I was a Dev when I basically just play tested the game although I did give a very few suggestion and pointed out a very few times how things would work in real life.

So keep going, I don't think that I played any of those games.

Wars of Napoleon - again about a thousand turns - and slow processing of turns.

Have you actually played them beginning to end? Kudos if you have.
What about the WWI game, To end all wars, is that also a 1000 turn game? I like the look of that one.

Wow, I love this. I had no idea this book existed! Thanks for the share.

I agree. I had never heard of these games, so I am excited to play them despite their lack of optimization. Vicky 2 is one of my fav games and these games look like a detailed version of the mentioned.

In my humble opinion only PoN could be compared to the Vickys.
But you start it as a youth and make your next turn as a grey bearded grandpa ;)
Well, if you don't experience a CTD.

All the titles discussed above are still available. At the shops here or through Steam.

If you like to venture into the world of old AGEoD games, I would like to point to Civil War II.
Also, a little rough around the edges (if you don't mind seeing Nathan Bedford Forrest raiding Chicago, while on all fronts Dixie is at bay), but otherwise leadership really maters. You tell McDowell or McClellan to move and nothing happens.
And, I am quite sorry to say this, all these old games (CIW II was published 13 years ago) are more appealing to the eye than WiS.

There are some recent AARs for the two big WW1 games that Ageod produced if you want an idea of what they do.

To End All Wars
World War 1 Gold

I'll post links later as I am piddling around on a phone at the moment.

I aggree with everybody that´s saying to go check Civil War II, and i´ll add Revolution Under Siege ( gold edition) + Sons of war mod. I have spent many hours playing those 2, and enjoying them a whole lot.
To End All Wars i find it has an under average IA and bugs.

I'd say the only thing that is so much worse in witp is the AI. Don't expect for it to function properly. Otherwise everything is so much better. Especially the theater itself. Air and ship combats are way way more fun because we actually have cutting edge planes & ships. Managing supplies over sea is a strong gameplay point itself also.

Agreed. But I wouldn't call it "AI" in WiTP:AE. I far as I know, at start the games (Japan as PC-player) chooses a script and will work on this till the bitter end. RangerJoe pointed at this topic already.

So if the allies are not replaying the Warplan Orange, sooner or later you will derail everything.
(sometimes I am dreaming of WiTP:AE or World in Flames getting a real state-of-art AI)

I suppose, then, both WitP and WiF are both more suited to PBEN for solo play?

WitP:AE: As Allies against scripted Japan to learn the basic. Else PEBM.
WiF: There is no PC opponent, even not a scripted one. So it is hard to learn. Playing against yourself is no fun.

Thanks ya'll.

Get the mod "sons of war" if you are going to play Revolution under siege. The vanilla game is good, but once you play the game with the mod the vanilla becomes "meh" and the interesting part is when playing with the mod.
