A Quick View on testing the 8.2 OOBs

The biggest problem i have is with tanks moving and firing and actually hitting.Last time i checked there was no stabilized platforms until the 50s if you could call them that.So my tigers moving there full alotment should not be blasting tanks apart. Now that i would like seen fixed. In my world if you move your not hitting anything.

Check the manual. It states that tank movement actually includes small pauses for firing purposes.

While I agree that accuracy should be very limited while moving, any fixing should not be based on sweeping generalitions like you just presented.

And, btw, late war Shermans did have gyrostabilizers for better accuracy with movement, but they didn't function very well, so ususally tank crews turned them off.

The M-26 had a functioning stabilizer that crews liked.

Forgot to add that this is most propably caused by the fact, that in 8.1 OOB, Accuracy of 88 L/56 was raised from 100 to 152, AP PEN from 154 to 182, and APCR Pen from 220 to 232.

Not only that, but Fire Control of Tiger (late model) was raised from 7 to 10 and Range Finder from 6 to 9.

Since new PEN-values have no correlation with reality, I dare to claim that changes to FC and RgF were pulled from the hat as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but anybody can change oobs. After 8.2 if a few of you don't like the way some of them work, then you can get together and come out with an accurate set of oobs. Probably 99% will be to your liking and you'd only change a few so it wouldn't be a huge effort. Does this make sense or am I missing something?

No, you are correct.

But do remember that WaW is a Matrix product, and any proven inconsistency or fallibility will be blamed upon the company that released it. This might even be so bad as to spill over onto other products. Gamers can AND do vote with their feet.

This is why the accuracy of the WaW OOBs (and engine to a lesser degree) is a matter of importance.

rather, beyond which the 'official' OOBs will always be 'official' that is why standards and vetting matter(ed) to the powers that be?

Igor, I just set up a meeting engagement in Sept 41, giving the Russians 1600 points. With true troop cost/rarity set "on", the USSR picked 5 rifle platoons, three GAZ 4 AA, a 76.2 bty, three 50mm mortars, and a tank group with a mix of BT-7s, T-27s, T-28s & T-60s. With rarity set "off", you get a few T-34s thrown into the mix. While the choice isn't ideal, it does give you a balanced mix between tanks & infantry to play against, and not the "Mongol horde" of tanks I've seen in the past.

In the 8.2 OOBs, will the AI choose more realistic Soviet armor and offboard guns in generated campaigns? Vast hordes of T-27s, no T-26s, no 82mm mortars, and only 76.2mm howitzers make 1941 battles somewhat more easy than they should be for the Axis.
So in short, when we play with AI, we should off the Rarity for better oponents?

Maybe can you also removed the commander unit recon status from all company unit. Recent game I discovered that ppl purchase section unit, and only when I managed to unlock the password, I discovered that they purchase the company commander unit because they are equip with the recon status. I love hex editor - they help to prevent cheater......

Also, Us PBEM players all need compatible oobs.
making your own set is fine, talking your opponents into using them is a different matter.[:D]

So when you show your OOB's to your opponent, and he says "I don't want to use fantasy OOB's", you can tell him "But we're not going to use the official ones, we will use mine..."[;)]
