I think you've got your commands switched there, Gobbo.

Alt+M - Melee (Infantry) - I've never noticed that this is more effective than just shooting the #### out of them in the normal manner.
Alt+O - Overrun (Armor - must have MGs and movement points left)

You're absolutely right about hitting them with everything if you're afraid they'll just take a casualty and scuttle off. This is a particular problem when fighting the US - they almost always retreat after a single casualty.

Another way to pin infantry down is to 'Z' fire into their hex. I haven't noticed more damage using 'Z' fire, but the units won't scuttle away as readily. They seem more inclined to sit there and take it. [8D]

Exactly what I meant :) with this method I've sometimes succeeded killing 2 tanks with one attack...works especially well imho is the firing unit has a flamethrower.
