And the sub attack on Hollywood, ala the movie 1941. Can't forget that. Is John Belushi modeled???

They tried. The ferris wheel code slowed things down. Maybe in a future patch.

It do! And if I recall correctly, you kicked my IJN @#*&#^... How goes up there? How'd you like the storms yesterday?

Once we get used to WitP, we'll have to give it a go via PBEM. Sound good? (From what I've heard, we can probably handle one PBEM at a time...).

Yep, 1.4" of rain on my rain guage!

Sounds good on the PBEM. Maybe in July or so sometime. I imagine some long turn cycles....

I don't think I've ever seen a thread snuffed out so quickly or effectively. And I am looking forward to Brady's patch, though I'll have to get 2 gig memory and a 5 Mhz processor to be able to handle the sampan fleet.

Actually, if the ad just says "every air unit and naval unit is represented," that may be reasonably accurate. It's not the same as saying "every plane and every ship is represented." Some planes and ships are obviously abstracted, but the units of which they are a part are "represented" by some game mechanic. E.g., tugs are "represented" in the game, since damaged ships can move one hex at a time.

PacWar said the same thing too....the cavet of course was that the smaller warships, and the Merchants were all actually represented in "groups"

Kampgruppe advertised playing battles right down to the infantryman, gun and indiv tank....but in reality you were playing at "platoon" level even with the tanks vs with indiv as with Steel panthers (and the formula that calculated kills was a group formula....not a indiv calc per tank)

Deceptive advertising or simply an interpretation?

Seriously though, what about B-25's carrier-launched? [;)]

I think you have the best way to put it. I've often wondred what would be the correct way to write this up.

But wait a minute, I want the native cannibals that feasted on the Japanese troops on Guadalcanal included on the Allied side. I am appalled that these are not in the game! That was the turning point of the war.

Brady, within a week of you getting the game, we will expect all these thousands of missing ships documented and named and ready for inclusion in a future patch. Don't forget to list each and every upgrade that may have happened in detail so each ship has a valid upgrade path.

You get an extra week to cover off and document each missing air group as well as the number of aircraft they had during each stage of the war and any upgrades they may have had.

I'm happy that you have come forward to take on this enormous task.

What about those crocodiles that feasted on all those Japanese soldiers!?[X(] No, really this actually happened. Late in the war, 1945 I think, around 1,000 Japanese soldiers stumbled into a swamp rather than surrender and only a handful came out the other side. The rest were eaten by crocodiles (saltwater, I think....very BIG). I think this was in Borneo, but I'm not sure. Anyone else ever heard of this?

Anyway, the crocs simply MUST be included. Perhaps you could upgrade as you go: alligator--nile croc---saltwater croc....[:'(]

edit: found this on a website (it was near Burma not Borneo[8|]):

A British combat unit had trapped about 1,000 Japanese soldiers on Ramree Island near Burma. Their only escape was through the swamp. The crocodiles, alerted by the din of warfare and the smell of blood, gathered among the mangroves, lying with their eyes above water, watchfully alert for their next meal. With the ebb of the tide, the crocodiles moved in on the dead, wounded, and uninjured men who had become mired in the mud. Their screams continued through the night, and by morning only 20 of the original thousand stumbled out of the swamp to surrender to the British. This was doubtless the most deliberate and wholesale attack on humans by large animals ever recorded.

The ferocious saltwater crocodile has the patience and ability to become almost invisible to an unsuspecting victim. Lying in or near the shores of rivers and lakes with only its eyes above the water, it looks just like a floating log. A thirsty animal who comes to the river to drink will be seized in scarcely an eyeblink. Given the uncanny strength of the reptile, the victim rarely has a chance. It is quickly pulled into the water and held beneath the surface; if the victim had a choice, it would prefer to succumb to drowning before the crocodile begins to snack on the fresh catch. Recently in Australia several people witnessed a 15-foot crocodile grab a very large horse by the hind leg and drag it into the river with very little effort.
