All delays are at .1 and summaries are off. It takes the computer 30 minutes to run through all its decisions, 15 minutes for combat, and about 20 minutes for the "train ship crews" section alone. This all adds up to about 1 hour per turn. have a 1.7 Ghz Pentium 4 moble, , 40 gig hard drive w/ 20 gigs free space, Win XP, with updated drivers and updated DX. What in my systray/programs running can I turn off to improve performance? I would like to get more that two turns a day just due to the time the computer takes.

Wow! With 0.1 sec message delay but combat animations on, for my office desktop, 2.4GHz P4, using NOSOUND due to CTD problem, about 3 to 4 minutes for 42A campaign; At home, 2.8 GHz, sound ok, about 3 minutes for same game.

Is this a laptop? If so, are you running with it plugged into power? My first place to look would be the power settings to make sure that whatever configuration you are using to run UV is getting full performance rather than battery-optimized performance.

Yes it is a laptop. I do have it on AC power and maxed for performance. I have been trying to turn off background programs to improve preformance, but I do not know which ones I really need. It does create a hit or miss activity.
