It is slower after 1.4. Training crews was about 2 secs now it is around 9.
9 Seconds? You're complaining about 9 seconds?? This thing runs over a minute on an average machine for most people.

There is NO difference. It still takes forever and a day for a save or reply file to load. And the training ship crews step still takes almost forever. The patch DOES reset your message delay settings, giving some players the illusion that something was "optimized".ORIGINAL: Bradley7735
Wow!! I can't wait to try this out. (I haven't been to my computer in two days, so I don't have the patch).
Now I won't get nearly as much house stuff done (I do house stuff while waiting for turns to resolve)
I agree. it still takes about 30-35 seconds to finish the "training ship crews" step.
I have an AMD 2500XP with 512 MB RAM and a Radeon 8500 Graphics card.
Hrmmm maybe we should talk about how to optimize for this game, I have a Thunderbird 1.2 with 768mb of ram and I measure this phase in minutes, not seconds. It takes only about 5 seconds in my turn, and I have Barthon 2500+ with 512 MB Ram, almost the same as you do.

K..so how do you optimize the game?
Who has good turn optimiztion strategies?

Good idea, I'll google that tonight and give it a whirl.ORIGINAL: testarossa
There was small prog GameOS or something, it theoretically put all system services on background and runs only the game. I'll try it this evening and post my observations.
