Well, if they were shipping oil from the Soviet Union during the war, then I see no problem allowing that to continue. Though I suspect the oil level needs to drop a bit to reflect historical levels.

BUT, I find it hard to see the US and Britian simply turning a blind eye to Soviet oil going to Japan after December 6th 1941.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

It would depend on who was doing the hauling. All Japanese vessels were fair game unless they were in Soviet territorial waters. Russian merchant "incidents" were to be avoided if at all possible. There were a couple notable fobiles in this regards which caused some ruffled moments between the US and SU.

It is a foible that one can encouter among people trying to spell 'foible'.

Note: Per the original topic . . . it would appear as if Russia and Japan did continue to trade with each other throughout the war . . . until August of 1945. As did Russia and the United States, and that the U.S. could arrange to transport cargo on ships flying the flag of a neutral country through waters where the U.S. Navy could not so freely sail.

There was, for example, an American Lend-lease office in Vladivostok, run by American military personnel, who could and did sail from Vladivastok to the United States and back with impunity, so long as they did so on a ship carrying the flag of a neutral country.

As for getting oil from Russia . . . I think that it would be best to consider this as a part of the background conditions that explains the oil already arriving in the United States, rather than something to be played out through the transport of tankers to Russia.

Thanks for the input.

I thought in 1.4 they "fixed" it so Soviet ports wouldnt let you load materials when still neutral.

He should loose the ships once in port, but I've never tested the concept of just dropping by with a TF to load stuff.

Recently I ran a test where I added a Soviet transport to the game, starting in Vladivostok. Sure enough there is was in port at the start of the game, complete with a Captain that had a suitably Russian sounding name. I created a transport TF and added the ship and that worked fine. However it could NOT load supplies from Vladivostok even though it was a Soviet TF in a Soviet port.

So it looks like the restrictions on not being able to load stuff in Soviet ports before they are activated is in the game alright.

A possible fix would be to have Okha not producing at all until Russia entered the war. I doubt all this oil was stored on the island as it is in the game.

And a special rule that since Russia is not at war with Japan, Japan will receive some oil in one of the northern ports.

Hi, To be strictly technical. The Japanese and Soviets had a trade agreement. It was the Japanese that had access to the Soviet oil.

Sooo...can the Japanese pick up Soviet oil in game then ?? [:)] Now *that'd* cause lot of grief among us Allied fanboys...[:'(][:D]

Cheers,
