Heavy surface combat action around DEI....
Thanks for the encouragement Rob!
The Singapore situation is tricky.. I was planning to send Oil to that base but the KB popped up this turn near Java and sunk those ships that were destined towards Singapore! It ain't all hopeless though.. I have 4 supply TF moving towards Singapore each carrying over +20000 supplies.. I do not think that every one of those TF will reach Singapore but some of those ships should. As for the Oil there isn't much I can do about that since only Oil resources I got nearby are in Java and those bases are emptied transport ships, etc. That is how the situation stands in Malaya peninsula.
I haven't never played Japanese side so I do not know the IJN strength... but as you stated this is mystery to you too!!! He hasn't captured Philippines nor Malaya yet... he has strong forces in Burma and South Pacific... and if you are correct he really don't have PP to withdraw troops from China... this is a mystery to me but it is obvious that he has ripped those forces from somewhere.
Yeah, China is the only good news right about now!!! ..I did recapture Horman and I will strike at Ichang too soon enough!.. If he has substansial troops there I will withdraw that is obvious. My intelligence shows that Canton has 15 enemy units garrisoning the town and that sounds like he has gathered quite big force there. Heh, operation Orange isn't about recapturing Canton Island.. nope, it's about trying to find out whether he has any weakneses in his China defense! That will become obvious soon enough!
Noumea seems to at threat!!! He did capture Luganville last turn.. so he is moving towards Noumea! This is not good but I have 2nd USCM division, 1 Brigade, 1 Artillery and 2 Base Forces occupying the Noumea so he has to bring a lot of troops there if he is to take that base! It has somewhat solid supply storage and fuel is also present! I haven't yet placed too much firepower in term of aircraft but I will strenghten that side of the defense soon enough.
The Operation Thunder is rolling!!! I have dispatched 2 Inf units (Reaction forces), 1 Base force towards Canton Island! I do not whether that is enough though.. I can bring more troops from Pearl Harbour if necessary! Those landing forces are escorted by 3 CV TF which I gathered around my carriers! This plan will succeed or will end in disaster.. hopefully it will turn out good! I will start strenghtening Palmyra Island also and 1 Canadian Brigade is underway to occupy that base. I have also 1 Aviation unit ready to move into position.. (Propably heading to Canton Island when/if it is captured)
My major concern right now is DEI and ofcourse Singapore! He has sizeable Naval force gathering around Java (at least some of his CV's also here) and he has a lot of airbases around this area! That doesn't look good in a long run.. There were fierce naval battles in Java sea and I got the short end of the stick this time!!! You can read more in the combat reports!!
Also, I want to hang onto Singapore as long as I can!!! He has to capture that base before he can advance his naval forces towards India and Burma (Houserule, so the longer this operation takes the better) ..also, Philippines is important also since he can't move his forces to Malaya before he has captured and destroyed my forces there!

RE: Heavy surface combat action around DEI....
No need to send oil in Singapore. A city with enemy troops in the hex produces nothing (neither ressources of HI is working).
Japan can't take troops from China because a Division is worth two months value of political points and China is a restricted command. So all Japanese troops starting there are still there. But you are discovering that Chinese troops can resist the Japanese juggernaut and liberate some cities if Japan concentrates too much elsewhere.
Now you should have all Chinese units on road hexes and you can use them on the frontline. Keep a division or a part of a corps in every rear area city, just to resist to any para attack and send the others on the frontline.
Retreating is only useful to save troops. In China you have not enough supply production at start for all your troops so retreating is giving away ressources centers and HI and is worsening the supply problem. It's far better to fight for all cities. If you lost you will at least damaged the cities you are leaving. You will probably never take back a major Chinese industrial center if your opponent build fort in captured cities, as China lacks ENG troops.
As for the naval war, the loss of most of your DEI ships is sad news. PBEM rule number 1 : if it works, don't repeat it, your opponent will react (contrary to the AI). You should have retreated before. One thing the Allied player has in great numbers in Jan 1942 is patrol planes. Use your Catalina and Do24 and also a few B-17s to survey Japanese shipping. The other thing Allied had in great number is submarines. They are your main weapon. Use them to hit convoys and especially damaged ships retiring from invasion places.
IJN has started invading Cairns!!!!...
The game date is now 27th of January 1942
Admiral Laurent: As you adviced me I should not retreat from the industrial cities in China... I will try to implement that and I will not retreat from Yenen. Also, I would like recapture Wuchow but that might be impossible. I have quite good supply situation in rear China so I will keep substantial forces there.
It's intresting that he can't remove troops from China due PP sanctions.. I say this because he has now landed at Cairns!!! That's right he has landed in the beaches of Australia!!! I will launch counteroffensive there since that kind of action wohn't be tolerated.
The DEI saga was unfortunate but I did hinder his operations (I think so since he brought KB there) and time is what I neeed. I have rescued about 1/3 of Surface TF ships to Australia so it wasn't total disaster after all.
Anyway here are more detailed report from the frontline:
Australia is under attack... The IJN ambassador didn't joke about his plans towards Australia!!! There IJN landings moving towards Cairns and he has a good chance of capturing that city since I only got Base Force there. I have dispatched troops from Brisbane to move into that area and drive out the IJN force if possible!!! This attack is suprise since I did not think he would be bould enough to to move in Australia!!!!! He is taking a lot risk with he's operations and so far he has made a lot progress!!!
Operation Thunder is underway! Strong force is sailing towards Canton Island and I will try to recapture that vital island. If captured back I will build it up along with Palmyra.. This makes my shipping lanes stronger and there by more secure! ...and this will give me solid airbases which to use in future operations!!!
Singapore is getting tricky.. Those supply TF haven't reached their destination and in the last turn both suffered 2000 men losses in the ground combat! Those supplies are going to be vital and I do hope those ships make in time!
In China.. 5 Japanese ground units have launched counter offensive in Horman.. I do not know their strength but I doubt I will be able to hold on to that city.
DEI has again been quiet.. I doubt it will stay way since at least part of the KB is there and he has so many Surface Combat ships sailing around there.

RE: IJN has started invading Cairns!!!!...
Bad luck with the Dutch navy. At least the dead cruisers will get replaced in 9 months ( i think ). I cant believe he's landed in Australia ! He's insane ( or im way too cautious as Japan : ) ). Noumea does seem to be his next target. Stockpile as many supplies as possible there and maybe put some small units in the other 2 bases north on the same island. Thats the best way to land as an in vasiion over the noumea beach would ( i think) be too costly. Althoug he hasnt shied away from heavy losses in the past.
Yeah both China and Manchiria are limited commands as admiral laurant stated and the pp cost of a full div is about 3500 ! although there are lots of little snlf and arty units that can easily be withdrawn if he wants to.
I was reading in another thread about the best way to help out chinas supply problem and pumping in supplies by air from mythinilika ?? and Ledo can apparently make a big differance. You can use the allier bombers too if there not being used elsewhere, If nothing else they get some practise flying and chinagets more supplies for later. I think the threads in the war room if u want to take a look.
have you garrisoned coastal india yet ( at least the bay of bengal ) ? might be worth it to pull a unit out of burma and split it up just to provide some resistance. Do arty units double as coastal guns ? i dont know but it might be worth finding out.
how about using those hopeless wirraways to bomb his ground troops in australia . thier experience will rocket up
Anyway good luck again ..

Pacific heats up...
The game date is now February 4th 1942
First off, thanx for the feedback Rob!
The situation around the pacific is "worsening". I did get adventorous with the Dutch Navy and got somewhat burned. That was unfortunate but as you said I get those cruisers back later... Otherwise the situation in DEI is getting from bad to to worse!! He has taken Kragen and is moving towards Soerebaja! There is not much I can do since KB has effectively all but closed the airfield in Soerebaja! I have send Subs out and the remaining PT Boats are put into the sea... but that is pretty much all that can be done.
I do not have high hopes that Soerebaja will hold for too long!
He actually turned away from Cairns.. My naval bombers drove him off but he landed in Cooktown instead!!! So, he an foothold in Australias soil! That is not good since he has so many troops in Port Moresby and Rabaul. My intelligence actually counted 20 units stationed in Rabaul! I have dispatched 1 Infantry Div and 1 Brigade in order to reoccupy the Cooktown! As you said I would guess he is planning towards taking Noumea but you never know what he is up to.. He might bypass Noumea and go for NZ! That would not suprise me too much!
In China the offensive has stalled. I did recapture Horman few days back. I did try to invade Ichang too but due to the lack of engineers there is propably not too much hope of doing so! Otherwise still quiet! The supply situation isn't that bad actually and I have yet to flow supplies into China.
I still in process of occupying those coastal cities in India! I'm thinking of withdrawing from Burma soon.. The idea is to have those Chinese Units committed there. They should be in responsible of keeping the Burma Road open!
In Singapore the siege is growing more desperate for those 60000 British troops! He is attacking with force.. right now he has gathered over 140000 infantry troops there and he has total air dominace. Few of those suicide AK's managed to get into the Harbour last turn and hopefully those supplies will bring some hope to those valiant British troops.
In Philippines I abandoned the Clark Field area.. there was massive enemy force approaching Manila and I would rather defend city hex than the base at Clark Field. So, the allied infantry is set to defend Manila from now on.
The Canton Island landings have "fiasco" so far...!!! Those ships unloaded/reached their destination in wrong order.. resulting to high and unnecessary casualty levels!!! Hopefully things will start goin positive or I have to cancel that operation!!!

RE: Pacific heats up...
I have to confess im facinated by this game
thanks for taking the time to post an aar
He dida naval bombardment of Singapore ??? He really is insane. Look on the bringt side you got some free DD kills there , if the 15inchers hit them
. Maybe he thought you were out of supply ( then the guns dont fire ) , so those suicide transports did pay off.
And another APD kill ( probably) at least thats good news for your subs. But I would reccomend you read the thread about china in the war room. I never new chinese supply was so bad till i read through it. I know you say you have plenty for now, but stockpiling for the inevitable 'rainy' day wont hurt and it gives your dakotas somthing to do
Anyway i'll stop bleating about it from now on
Soeryba ?? ( i cant spell ) does indeed look somewhat dead. But i was suprised by your 'succesful' naval bombardment of cooktown
. I really think he's going to lose huge amounts of troops in australia eventually. Also he has to 'go round the corner' of the barrier reef now to supply it, give you more oppurtunity to hurt him .. mine that hex to h***.
Facinated to see how this pans out .. Godd luck

The game date is now 6th of February 1942
Yep, I was also suprised that he naval bombarded Singapore and the result was good for allies. Those suicide TF managed only to bring around 6000 supply points to Malaya. (Btw all those AK and MSW are now sunk) but that is better than nothing. I have actually gathered another "suicide" supply run (It's better to loose few ships than to loose a whole army) and those ships will sail very soon from Bombay harbour. I have now +10000 supplies stocked in Singapore. Hopefully that amount will last for a while.
You are right on the money Rob when talking about forthcoming supply situation in China. I think the supply situation is better because I still hold the Burma Road... Chinese Infantry troops are now occupying the cross road below Myithkina! (I think that is a key road junction if the supply situation is to remain in positive side) ..Another key thing is to hold Myithkina and Mandalay if "practical". Therefore I have another strong Chinese infantry force moving into Mandalay.. They are moving slow but are not that far off. Their responsibility is to drive off the Japanese infantry from Mandalay and then go into defensive positions around Myithkina/Mandalay.
He has actually somewhat abandoned the Cooktown to its destiny.. or at least it seems that way.. as I said I'm moving in there with 1 inf division and 1 inf brigade.. those should be enough to drive off the enemy. I know I could use that base as target practise for my pilots but I think it is too "risky".. since if he deciedes to bring in a lot of troops to Australia than I most certainly wohn't want him to have a beach head in the region!
Here is the report from other theatres from the past 2 days...
DEI is heating up.. Enemy troops have captured Kragen and have moved inland. Effectively cutting off the Island in two. The brave Dutch Pilots have flown several air raids againts enemy troop transport ships around Kragen.. and have scored several hits. Unfortunately those ships have already off loaded their cargo. Also, the KB has made impact.. last time strinking Soerabaja and now it has struck the airfields in Batavia. (Causing serious damage.. fortunately Dutch engineers are quick and hard working people)... Heavy fighting is expected in forthcoming days too.
In Singapore the supply convoys reached their destination. They only managed to bring around 6000 worth of supplies but that is better than nothing and that amount doubled the supplies that were in the stock before. Another 4 AK TF are heading that way again and I do not expect many of those ships to return.
Operation Thunder was a success!!! After some minor problems the allied troops have now conquered the Canton Island. This island is vital for the supply convoys. It is actually the first offensive operation conducted by allied troops. I have sent additional brigade to Palmyra island in order to keep foothold in Palmyra and Canton. These islands are close enough to Pearl Harbour and can be used as "jumping point" in the future offensive operations.
In Philippines the Japanese airforce has conducted several major airstrikes againts Manila. Also there have been a lot of bombardment by the ground troops also.
In China there have only bombardment by the ground troops. Chinese airforce managed to score few resource hits againts the city of Changsa. Allthough it is quiet.. I have a gut feeling that my opponent is planning an offensive here. He propably isn't just sitting his forces doing nothing.
In the West Coast several supply convoys have been dispatched and they are heading towards NZ/Australia regions. Also those supply convoys that I did dispatch from Karachi have now reached their destination and have brought supplies to Australia.
In the Central Pacific.. the defenses are coming along nicely. Midway have sizeable garrison and has strong supply stocks piled up. Central Pacific will propably be the place from where I will launch major offensive in due time.
As for the future operations I have been thinking about 2 options:
1) Use British naval assets to cause a lot of damage to those Japanese troop/surface combat ships around Singapore! This would be a suprise attack.. and if an succesfull one would cause a lot of harm to Japanese.. on the downside this could be a major disaster!!! If I only knew his Airforce strenghth than It would be easier to balance pros and cons. I don't know whether to go ahead or not with this one.
I propably will need my naval assets intact since he will be strinking India soon enough! I have already decieded that if he is to do so I will strike againts him with everything I got... I wohn't rest/hide my naval combat ships since that way those ships would be sitting ducks.. I rather go out with guns blazing.
2) This is the second option as it is more modest. This idea is to build up Noumea/Auckland and Canton area. When ready with these troop deployments (It would take sometime at least) ..the Idea is to strike againts Luganville (This base has to be captured soon enough) and Tarawa areas with force... and then rolling up towards Rabaul and Port Moresby... and eventually to bomb Truk to stoneage!
That is the more conservative and cautious plan that is growing.
Anyway here are few combat reports again:

The game date is now 8th of February 1942
It has been positive couple of days for allies. (It was about time)... IJN navy did try another bombardment of Singapore and got their "fingers burned". As stated I have sent another supply convoy from India towards Singapore.. The supply situation isn't too good at the moment.
Another positive development is that there is now confirmation that KB is patrolling in around Kragen. It is a death star formation and it has several escorting ships with it. That is a relief because at least now I do not have worry about popping up somewhere unexpected.

RE: Fight continues.. CA Atago destroyed...
LOL Looks like he didnt learn his lesson about bombarding singapore the first time
Nice result there , hopefully that BB might sink on the way back to Saigon. Congrats on getting Canton back, an absolute must on your part. also I like the idea of bombing the Jap res in china. If he repairs them its cost in supply ( that he must be running short of ) probably explains why hes quiet in china.
hmm abandoning his troops in Aus .. Great news but dont divert anything from noumea as I have a feeling it was a feint to take defenders from NM
( not that you will now )
Also are you sending the AK's to singapore in a TF of 4 or single ships ? I think single ones make more sense as one/two may sneak through. I was going to advise that maybe the points from sunk AK's might not be worth trying to stave off the inevitable fall of sing. However I'm not going to as his shock attacks are causing him nasty losses for no gains that i can see
What to do with the Brit Navy ?.. I dont know to be honest .. Its got some big guns but very vulnerable to air attacks [&:]. I'd be tempted to keep it alive as a threat in India so he cant do 'free' landings againt your flanks. Keeps him having to use the KB in the India SRA theater , which given that you plan on having a counter offensive in the central pacific could be a strategic boon
. another possibility is sail the brit bb's to australia and use them to bombard luganville with the US slow BB's. It'll flatten the base and be pretty safe from LBA while getting some good training. Also stops you suiciding them in the bay of bengal. They are a lot of points remember and jan 43 is going to be crunch time. with his heavier losses keeping yours down is a must especially if he can take India ( or some of it ). also dont throw away the UK 'crap' carriers for the same reason. Hermes can be a great convoy escort.
Anyways good luck again

RE: Fight continues.. CA Atago destroyed...
Seems to me that you opponent is also inexperienced. Bombing Singapore with ships is a bad idea, Japanese planes may bomb the base to achieve the same results.
Your opponent should also use more Engineer Regiments in Singapore and launch only deliberate attacks to reduce the fort level.
I think Singapore may continue to hold if you manage to bring supplies. It is worth to lose some AKs. You can also use your available transport planes to fly supply or even better fly out the useless troops (like battered BFs with no more engineers), so they won't consume supply and won't give more points to your opponent when Singapore fell.
Manila heats.. over 8000 Japanese troops killed or wounded..
The game date is now 10th of February 1942
Thanks for comments guys!
Rob: Yes, he did not learn the first time.. and I'm hoping that he will eventually try again. That damaged BB hasn't shown in sunk ship list so it might have survived.. or the FOW is effectively hiding it.
The Canton Island operation was must.. he could have caused so much problems just by placing LBA there that It had to be done. I have now fortified and placed additional troops there.. also as stated Palmyra Island will be strenghtened. If he is going to take these islands again than he wohn't capture them easily.
You are right.. I think he will strike at Noumea.. that is if he has the strenght to go offensive here.. It seems he has committed a lot of his naval forces in DEI/Malaya and Philippines.. and he has sizeable troop strengths there so I don't think he has the potential for invading Noumea just yet. There is 1 Australian Brigade on their way to Noumea along.. already in place is 1 NZ Brigade and 2 USCM division.
I'm sending those ships in 4 TF each containing 4 AK's ..so it is 16 AK's in total... It vital that these ships would reach their destination unharmed.
British Navy.. Intresting idea that I should remove slow BB's and RN CV's to Australia... I haven't given that idea thought before because my initial idea was/is to hit him with everything I got when he is coming towards India. I have to give this some more thought. I don't intend throw or sacrifice RN surface ships nor CV's.. I think they can carry "decisive punch" if used properly.. and thus make Japanese invasion fleet regret they ever even dreamed of India!
It seems to me that Central and South West Pacific are best suited for those major offensives. It is kind of island hopping but Japanese strongpoints can be bypassed.. and when done that those bases can be bombarded from the air!
String:
That's useful information.. thank you!
AmiralLaurent:
Well, my opponent stated that he has 3 other PBEM going and that he is UV veteran.. and he said he has yet to loose any PBEM game he has started.. so I would say he has somewhat superior experience compared to me.
I was also suprised he tried naval bombard Singapore.. but that is fine by me! At the moment I only have +7000 supplies in Singapore.. but those 4 TF will start their voyage from Bombay as soon as they are loaded. I think if half of those ships can make into the port than he will have major headache with Singapore! When we started this PBEM we did agree that there is no passing Malaya peninsula towards India/Burma before Singapore have fallen. My India defense is far from ready and it lacks infantry troops.. that is the major problem there.
As suggested I will start to check those troops stationed in Singapore.
He did attack Manila this turn and the situation is pretty much similar to Singapore!! I could try to send few lone AK to bring in supplies but I haven't decieded on that matter. He suffered +8000 in his 1st deliberate attack againts the city.. I haven't been building fortifications in neither Manila nor Singapore.. Those levels are consuming way too much supply and that is not the luxury I can afford at the moment.
...............................
The DEI region is being attacked.. He has landed in Merak and Kragen. I do not whether the KB is docked in Kragen!!!??? My PT boats did found it this turn again.. and I have issued LBA to bombard Kragen port in order to find out if it is docked or not. We will have to see how it goes.. I thinking that this might be an opportunity since that TF might have supply problems!!!
In Philippines the Japanese push to capture Manila has started. Allied troops were able to inflict severe damage to IJN troops.. It is reported that +8000 Japanese soldiers were killed or wounded.
The onslaught at Singapore continues.. this time +3000 Japanese reported killed or wounded...

Japanese continue their attacks againts Manila and Singapore.. DEI seeing also heavy action...
The game date is now 12th of February 1942
Japanese operations continue in DEI.. large troops shipment TF have spotted in this sector of operations. It seems IJN have selected Kragen and Merak as their landing zones. I have been trying to hit as many ships as I can with the Dutch Airforce but it is just delaying the imminent fall of Java.
KB is still lurking around Kragen port.. and I would really like hit that TF but that propably is day dreaming.
Both Manila and Singapore are under heavy groundcombat. Japanese suffred heavy casualties but undoubtely they will continue their attack repeatedly. So, everyday that I hold those cities I can use to reinforce other areas in the Pacific.
In 2 days time I will receive several Royal Navy ships and CV Hornet is due to be scheduled to join in US Fleet.
Those are positive news and also I'm also going to be receiving few solid Aircrafts that can be useful. Those AK TF have now sailed from Bombay and are heading towards Malaya. Also, 1 Australian Brigade is heading towards Noumea.

It been busy start for the holiday season.. but here are few combat reports as usual:

BB Haruna confirmed sunk...
Game date is now 16th of February 1942
First of the good news. BB Haruna has been confirmed sunk. Singapore Coastal guns inflicted a lot damage and this was a pleasant suprise.
Also in DEI the Dutch airforce is inflicting a lot of damage to Japanese ships. Mostly transport ships but few DD's have also been sunk. This is also good news. He still has KB in Kragen and I'm not going to hit it. I think it will cause too much fatigue for the Dutch airmen. It will also be costly and I do not want lose airplanes for nothing.
In Singapore the onslaught continues.. The city is in short of supplies and those TF I have sent are still quite far off. I guess this is down to luck since if I can hang on as long as those ships arrive I still might have a chance on hanging into that base. My opponent has informed that he has now 7 Japanese divisions attacking the city.
The Chinese troops have now reached Mandalay. I have ordered immediate delibarate attack againts those 2 japanese divisions occupying the hex. Hopefully the British + Chinese will be able to cause serious damage and thus cause those 2 divisions to retreat into the jungle.
Philippines is a stalemate at the moment. I think he is bringing reinforcements to the islands. This battle is pretty much lost and all I can hope for is to buy time... and it still might take sometime before the Japanese can conquer the capital city.
In the South Pacific.. Reinforcements continue to arrive and day by day the defense will get stronger. Also 1 Australian brigade and 1 Australian Division will reach Cooktown soon and the idea is to make those Japanese troops there to surrender. I did order bombardment run last turn againts that base and those cruisers will go at it again this time around too.
India is still organizing.. I would like to have more troops there but as soon as I get Mandalay area under control than I will remove few troops from there in order to bolster the India defences. I have plenty of Royal Navy ships and in May I can start to upgrade my airplanes. That will happen in less than two weeks time.

Dutch airforce involved in heavy fighting...
Game date is now 18th of February 1942
In past 2 days Japanese have continued their operations as described above... IJN transport ships have been struck hard by Dutch Airforce.. Also KB launched their first attack againts Batavia in order to close down the airfield... and I'm happy to report this didn't succeed. Batavia is still operational.
There are now Japanese troops in Soerebaja and it is a matter of days before they will conquer base.
The Counter attack didn't succeed in Mandalay.. those Japanese division are propably very experienced. I have ordered air bombardments againts those units and I will try hit them again in near future.
In China there were couple of fierce ground combats.. fortunately Chinse troops held their line and Japanese suffered heavy casualties.
This is how the things stand.. as always here are few combat reports:

Japanese storm the city... Singapore falls...
The game date is 24th of February
Singapore is now on Japanese hands!!! That is not good news at all but there just isn't too much I those helpless troops could do againts 170000 Japanese invaders. This means that the road to India is open!!!
He has taken a lot recon photos of Bangalore and that base is empty. I have started to withdraw British Burma army towards India. I will leave the defense of Burma in Chinese hands. It will take sometime before those Brits will arrive since now they are heading towards Myithkina.
Also I will start to assemble Royal Navy's ships in TF. I will try to hit with everything I got if and propably when he starts his Indian adventure. Colombo and Tricomlalee are all but abandoned.. those bases have just Base Forces left since I have moved more valuable troops inland.
Only problem is that British aircraft can not be upgraded before May... since I would like to have more Hurricane squadrons. Also, there is a dire need of more bombers! That is one thing the british seem to lack at the start.
I have been thinking about this whole India situation a lot... one idea being that I could sail my US CV's from Pearl Harbour to Indian Ocean. There they would join up with British Navy and attack the incoming Japanese. Well, this is ofcourse thinking that he is coming for India. (Seems likely) .. the other idea is that when he commits in India than I will strike in the South. (Rabaul, Port Moresby, Tulagi, Lunga and Luganville) .. I do not want him to think he can do whatever he wants!!! Anyway, those are two options that can cause him damage in my opinion.
In Philippines the Manila situation is same as Singapore had.. There is noway I can bring in additional supplies and it has not that much in stock. So, I guess that base will fall soon enough!
My opponent has stated that he is now moving ahead with his plan in China. Well, that might bad news since Japanese have an overwhelming force in that theatre assuming he got his supply situation under control. I have my forces in places where I want them.. allthough if he start to push in Central China I propably will have move most of my troops out of Yenen.. so he can't block their espace route.
In DEI the invasion continues. He will take these bases as soon as he can bring additional troops from either Malaya Peninsula or Philippines. I think I can at least hold Batavia sometime.. Soerebaja doesn't look that good and I'm expecting it to fall soon. He hasn't landed in Palembang at all so I guess he will move in now.
He is also using "gamey" tactics since he is attacking with just 1 unit sometimes!!! I guess that will build up experience quite fast!!! He also has said that his troops in Malay +7Divisions have 99 experince levels!!! That doesn't sound too good either!

Day 1 after Singapore for the allies...
The game date is now 26th of February 1942
Quiet turn in past 2 days.. Japanese are propably celebrating their victorious campaign in Malaya.
DEI forces are constantly being attacked from the air.. and it is up hill battle all the way in this region.
I did receive some intresting information from Vorsteher.. He is stating that:
1) Hi is expecting the capture of Manila within 1 month time. (Allthough I'm think it might even fall in next couple of days!!! but he doesn't know that yet)
2) The plans have been going forward for major offensive againts allied before June/July period.. the aim is to get autovictory againts the allied before 1943.
3) Some details about his production has been also revealed.. He is producing 1100 AC monthly.. 300 Zeros and 100 Bettys... he is also confident that coming to year 1943 the production 1700 monthly.
4) He did admit that it was a mistake to naval bombard Bataan and Singapore.. It was kind of a test as he said.
I'm still amazed at the speed of the IJN advance.. There are so many troops everywhere and Japanese do have a lot of infantry and engineering units that allies can't counter.
Well, having said that I will launch a major offensive againts the Japanese if he goes ahead with his India plan.
As stated there are couple options:
1) Strike him at Indian Ocean.. with US CV's and Royal Navy.. Hoping to cause a lot of carnage there.
2) Launch a major offensive in the South Pacific.. Forcing him to think twice before moving into India. I'm thinking Rabaul, Port Moresby, Mariana islands.. etc!
3) I do not know how much troops he has in his home islands.. by the look of things I might even start to prepare for Tokyo before 1943 arrives.. That is a bold move but it might even work if enough decisive power is concentrated! That is an option too.
It all depends how quickly he is moving towards India.. If fast propably the South Pacific option is best quick medicine for that.. but the 1st option is also tempting.
If he is taking his time for the offensive than I would be very much tempted to go for the kill againts Japanese home islands.
That's my thoughts at the moment..

War continues...
Game date is now 4th of March 1942
There is concerning news in DEI and Philippines. The Dutch airforce is all but destroyed.. this is thanks to the Japanese Deathstar KB! Also, if the my opponent isnt stating propaganda the history of those troops in Manila is also soon over. He is stating that +60000 additional Japanese forces are on their way towards Philippines. There is noway I can hold on long againts such force.
I'm preparing for the unavoidable battle in India. Allthough there isn't that much I can do there.. since It will take "miracle" if the Japanese can land enough troops in that country. I would like to upgrade my aircraft but that is over month away. I have sent couple of convoys full of fuel and supplies to Australia. That region needs also all supplies It can get. As stated I have started moving British Burma to India but It isn't fast road through the Burmese jungle roads.
Allied troops have now recaptured the base in Cooktown and that is at least good news. I will sent base force there in order strenghten that base once the Japanese have been completely wiped out. I think it is actually the only base that can strike Port Moresby and I do propably need start bombing runs soon.
In Central Pacific I have strenghtened Palmyra and Canton Island. Those bases can be used if I deciede to go ahead with the plan againts Marianas & co. Also, Noumea is quite strong allthough It will propably need additional troops but It is ready to strike againts Luganville.
My CV's are still at Pearl Harbour but I will propably start to sail them to South Pacific. Whatever I deciede to do at least they are closer to their objective. CV Hornet is still moving towards Pearl Harbour.
In China there has not been a lot of action.. I doubt that it will remain that way though. He has the strength to start major offensives if he chooses so.
Japanese have lost 99 ships so far in the campaign.. and the Allied side has lost 98 ships. Those are confirmed number of sunken ships.

Quiet and Sunny in the Pacific...
The game date is now 8th of March 1942
Action has taken a breather... both sides are licking their wounds and preparing for the next round of fights.
I have spotted a lot of troop transportships around Manila so the information I got about those 60000 additional IJN troops is propably correct. It is not the question whether the allies can hold on to Manila but it is the question where are those troops going after Manila!
Some of those supply/fuel TF that I send from India to Australia have now reached their destinations. That is good news since those ships brought a lot of relief to Australia. The repairs of the remaining Dutch Navy is also coming along.. CL Sumatra and 2 DD
's are ready for action again.
Also American Division have now reached Noumea.. This means that if he wishes to attack Noumea than he really needs to bring on substantial amount of troops or otherwise that attack is doomed.
I have dispatched 3 additional Canadian brigades to South Pacific and there is also 1 Philippinese division around that theatre. I don't think he can expect those forces to be there so he might underestimate my strenght. If so my build up for the forthcoming invasion in South will be a suprise.
KB is lurking still in DEI region.. I do not expect that to be the case soon. I think he will move it either to the South or most likely scenario to the Indian Ocean.
In India I will propably abandon Tricomlalee and Colombo.. Those bases are on a island and can not be defended as well as I would like to. I haven't made my mind yet but that is the choice I'm leaning towards. If so I will empty those bases out of Fuel and Supplies.
I do not know what he is up to for certain but according to my opponent "focus is changing now" ..whatever that means [&:]

Massive assault againts Manila has started...
Game date is now 20th March 1942
The tempo of Japanese advance have slowered.. I guess that is not unexpected due to the heavy fighting in Malaya.
IJN have captured small island around DEI, South Pacific and Philippines. Only major onslaught is againts Manila at the moment. There is now over 160000 troops assaulting the city. It will be only matter of time before Manila will fall an there isn't much I can do. If my opponent is forthcoming than those additional troops are from the Japanese malaya army. Seasoned veterans that propably are able shake things up pretty quickly.
In DEI there is also attacks againts Batavia and Soerebaja. It is miracle that I still hold Soerebaja since he has reduced fort levels... but those Dutch troops are also doomed. I noticed few transport TF arriving in Kragen so he is propably bringing reinforcements to this region as well. Batavia has bigger chance to hold longer but those troops that hold the city aren't exactly top quality so we will have to see about this as well. Japanese did manage to reduce fort levels here too. He has now captured Palembang and those Dutch units are on their way to a new base.. It will be a long road ahead for them.
Timor is also under attack.. Japanese seized the a beach head here and are propably bringing in additional forces.
KB is nowhere to be seen.. My guess is that it is sitting in Singapore port resting and planning for the next adventure.
I have brought additional forces to the Central and South Pacific. I doubt he will be able to capture Palmyra nor Canton Island now. Also, I will propably launch an assault againts Luganville. I have bombed that base for a while now and he hasn't been able to bring in additional supplies. Let's call this operation Umbrella.
In Malaya retreat of the British Burma army continues.. They are reaching Ledo now and they will continue forward towards beaches of India. Chinese units are now holding Mandalay and the Burma road conjuction.
I know my opponent is planning for his next major offensive but question is where will he strike!!! India, Australia or... ????
