It is the secret to winning. No matter what trick or strategy you are thinking of if you get distracted and lose track of what you are trying to do it will fail. A few examples:

CV TFs attacking with the planes still set on ASW for thier trip across the pacific
Fast TFs running out of fuel
Cargo TFs set to Do Not Unload reaching thier destination after a month and then turning around and going home because they were also set to retirement allowed.

The list is probably nearly endless.

Detail nr. 2481... Always remember to set TF's going to pick up supply/fuel for patrol/remain on station, or they leave the turn after they arrive, picking up nothing.
