Posted by Marty1:"You could probably get a room for a week in Charleston for the price of a nights stay in NYC. Just don't have it in the winter." My response: The proposed convention will happen in April or May 2002.

I'd love to attend and finally meet some folks in person. Plus, (if he comes) Paul Vebber and I could crack a few Leine's in deference to our eternal friends from the Sparticus Youth League in Madtown, USA...

Yo KG, any thoughts on an agenda while we're their? Also, any chance of you or someone getting a website up regarding specifics to the conference? What about having a chat session to brainstorm ideas??

If I can get free time by then, count with a Sinner on the convention.

Alas, Chuck Yeager was a great guy and I love flying. So, what a nice excuse :D

Like flying to San Diego to see the Pac Navy there... well, I mean, I had to go to California and I picked a random airport... well, you know what I mean :D

Salut,

I like your idea of a chat session for sharing ideas. This is why I wanted to start planning at least six-seven months in advance. I'm still waiting on some word from David Heath to see if he will give it his blessing (and support). Wild Bill, God love him, is in. As far as a website to promote this, I hope we can get a page on this site. I'm open to any suggestions from those who expressed an interest in attending.

I'd like to see someone at Matrix come and give a talk on the companies' long term goals, ideas.... you might also want to invite the 2by3 guys to it as well.

How about visiting the chat room at 8 pm EST Friday Aug 3? I can only register in as guest, since my forum name apparently keeps getting rejected as "invalid user name". I'll try to set up the room as "Convention", and go from there. I'll test that right now. If anyone cares to, help me out to see if it works.

Ok, I sent an RFP to Embassy Suites, with rooms for 50-75 people for two days and a conference room for Saturday May 11, 2002. This is just an experiment, because we need to know how expensive this may be. I'm just winging this, guys, so bear with me. Dave Heath has said nothing, so at this point it seems that the attendants will be laying out all the expenses. What's it gonna cost? This is the thing that will make or break this meeting proposal. I'll be in the "Convention" chat room tonight at 8:00 EST, so please drop in and give me some input. I want to do this, but I can't pay for it all. If you guys are as serious as I am about making this event a reality, then it's gotta be a group effort, and I'm just the man doing the legwork onsite.

Well, Mike, you didn't miss much. Only a couple of other people participated. I'm waiting for a price quote from Embassy Suites. Dave Heath e-mailed me and I'm gonna give him a call--I'm have more info later.

Any major airlines fly into that airport? If American does, I at least could get there since my sister and her husband work for AA and I could get a reduced fare ticket.
Thanks, John.

Thanks, John." Thanks for your interest, John. American, Delta, Northwest, United Express and US Air all have connections to Yeager Airport in Charleston. There's a stopover in either Pittsburgh, Charlotte or Atlanta, depending on which company you use. Hope this helps.

I'm gonna call David Heath Monday, from my office. I didn't want to bother him over the weekend. My supervisor is out of town for the week, so I'll be the unit manager for a few days. We'll see what happens.
