First impressions...

Gary Grigsby's World At War gives you the chance to really run a world war. History is yours to write and things may turn out differently. The Western Allies may be conquered by Germany, or Japan may defeat China. With you at the controls, leading the fates of nations and alliances. Take command in this dynamic turn-based game and test strategies that long-past generals and world leaders could only dream of. Now anything is possible in this new strategic offering from Matrix Games and 2 by 3 Games.

Ok, lets go over who all the guys on the box cover are, for those of us that are not quite up on our WWII history.

From left to right, is that:

1. Zhukov?
2. Yammamoto
3. Patton?
4. Chiang Kai Chek? (the no hat guy, lower center)
5. Rommell
6. Montgomery

Doh. My guesses that (2) Toshiro Mifune, (3) Ted Turner and (6) David Niven go out the window then [:'(]

I've never heard of this Alexandrov, guy. Can you tell me more about him? Was he a Russian general?

All the pictures I've seen of Zhukov during the WWII period show him much older and heavier than the picture of #1. If #1 is Zhukov, its when he was much younger.

Obviously there was a late expansion in faces for the box as the posters under "merchandise" have only 3 of the eventual cast of characters that found their way to the box cover. Eventual collectors items? We'll see...

Well, I'd like to lodge a formal protest.... I think Zhukov should be on the box cover as he was the premier major Russian general. Also, Rommell should be replaced with Guderian. [;)]

PS. The game must be good if all we have to argue about is who's on the box cover... heheheh

Thanks to all those who liked the music and sounds [:)] and a greatful thankyou to those who don't and are honest enough to say.

Scott and I worked hard to create the right vibe and I think the game sounds great because of it. Hopefully we'll get a chance to keep refining the results for the 'Strategy' genre by working on more titles in the future here at Matrix.

In the meantime, if anyone has anything they'd like to hear with regards to sound/music for future games please let us know. So far I can tell the videos worked well (I wrote the scripts with help from Joel and recorded Mark the voice over guy), most people liked the music and generally the sounds were well received. I'm always curious what people love in terms of the sound so references to games you love are most welcome - we aim to please.
BTW - anyone got any links to WiTP music? I'll check it out since people speak so highly of it.

Regards
