The strong emphasis on the offensive can make it difficult.

Like all doctrine, it has its weak points and strict adherence would leave one over-extended, hence the need to keep attacking once the point of no return has been reached.[:)]

This is a game of momentum, and in the 08 42 to 08 43 time period it SHOULD be shifting toward the Allied side, that being my observation MAhan doctrine is tough for the JAps.. if they stand and fight they run the risk of Heavy casualties.. if they hold an airfield in range of heavies it is reduced to ashesm, if the Allies have the stomuch for the losses unescorted bombers face...
after 08 43 it should be a one way street, not that they are impotent, just lacking the ability to control.... anything Jap naval wize greater than hit and run here and they risk disaster...
afte r08 44 the JAps must fight for survival.. picking when to attck or defend as the bubble shrinks...

Feb 43 with me as Japs and Jon_Hal as allies. High water mark for IJ: Wake and Midway, All DEI, PI, Southern India and Ceylon, all Solomons and Funafuti islands. Allies now storming back on strength of superior air. 625 Jap ships sunk but at cost of 10 Allied BBs and 2 fleet carriers vs 3IJN BBs and 1 CVL. Seemingly insurmountable japanese lead almost gone as allies have retaken India, isolated the Solomons and built beach head on Bali. Started game in October.
