RE: china and battles in early april

Post by sadja »

Blam0 has shifted or is trying to shift some of those dreaded 4 eng bas**rds, maybe to support China? The air raid around Luganville was a failure? I got a damaged AP and that is all. He did not launch strikes against my carriers yet.

China still no visual on the airborne unit at Langchow. He has moved in some troops to take back Kungchang and withdrawing troops west of Yenen. I should have waited 1 turn to attack those forces there.

PI deliberet attacks on manila reduced forts to zero and should fall soon. I have moved in BF units to add thier support and guns.

Things are held up a litttle in SRA while stuff is getting organized.

Battles 4/16-18/42

Blam0 has recaptured Kungchang driving out my paratroops. He only got 2/1 odds with no fortbut he out numbered me almost 20/1. He will have a harder fight for Langchow so if my other para troop unit fight although he is invisable.[:(]

He has also bombed me back wards in Burma, but soon that may change if I can get some air units foward.[&:][&:]

After 6 straight days of 45f and 50+ bomber raids on Chunking he has withdrawn most of his AC.

I have landed at medan in force and hope to take it soon. He has concentrated the northern Ductch forces there. He had been flying either troops out or supplies in. i was able to destroy quite a few C-47s.[:D][:D]

Blam0 has totally take the intiative away from me around PM. As a matter of fact I'm no where near PM He has sent 80+bombers and 100+ fighter bombers against Lae, and sent those Bas***d 4eng bombers at Rabaul and I didn't have enough fighter cover.[:@][:@]

The good part for me, after a lack luster raid by 1 CV group on Luganville another one hit that area. I caught a 5 ship Transport TF 180 miles NW of Luganville and then my attacks around Luganville sunk another 3 or 4 AKs. I was able to shoot down the P-39D cap in 2 raids he had me 46/22 in fighters the first raid and it cost me 3 zeros 2 vals and 9 kates for 15 P-39D and just a few hits on those AKs, but the second raid I had him 44zeros to 23 P-39D's I shot down 14 then hit his ships. I was still disapointed because there were no COMBAT ships around except PT,s [:(]

The surprise was after the turn i checked AC losses and found a 66 B-25C ops, a 24 P400, 16 Welingtons, 16 boston, 16 beauforts ops losses. I can only surmise there were AC on some of those AK's[:D][:D]

I feel with those losses it was a better 2day turn than I thought, now only to get the intiative back around PM. His carriers are lurking some where. He has much better Intel than I have and he has all his CV's from the start of the game plus his reinforcements.[&:][&:][&:]

I sure did pay the price in fighters shot down though. I can't be too upset with the % of bomb hits, as most of those units were pretty green. Hopefully some of those CVs will be in port for a bit.

Sadja's raid was not a complete loss, as he was able to sink a couple of misplaced transports with air groups/squadrons on their way to give him more grief.

The foray into northern China is quite a pain in the ass, and likely to be the cause of more pain for me later on. I suspect that the reason I only got 2-1 odds was because I force marched the unit there, and didn't give it time to rest before assaulting. The air raids on Chungking have produced an effect that Sadja has not yet seen.

I will continue to accomodate Sadja's deep love for 4e bombers by sharing them with him at every opportunity.[:'(]

Yes couple of CV's will need some yard time.[:(] One interesting point, some of the young naval officers every to expand the envelope want to use on of the new large hole in the flight deck and make it into a new elevator to move planes to the flight deck. The only problem is the fire may have weakened the steel around it.[:D]

I'm so glad that my forces in north china are causing grief.[:D][:D] Blam0 will notice after running the lastest battle report that Hengchow was captured and I have only one more hex to capture to surround Changsha.

The Allied army surrendered in manila on the 21st and all forces in Luzon are gone.[:D][:D] There are still 4 PA units in lower islands. This frees up over 150 AC all army planes. They will be used soon elsewhere. They have been moved to temperate places to increase moral.

Northern Sumatra will be mine soon and southern will follow.

The damage to some of the CV's will push me back some, but hopefully the arrival of fresh air groups will off set.

Burma and PM still are trouble spots.[:(] Will have to use a little subtrifuge. Sifting through my vast intel sources,[:D] I should be able to find all his stuff. I wonder in real life were the Japs this clueless about allied movements?[&:][&:]

Allied status and screenshots

As can be seen below, Sadja has gotten me into a bad way in China. Changsha and the forces outside of Yenen should hold without significant changes, given current force levels. Everything else, is a mess. I seem to have enough force to go around, but I simply cannot get it to where it needs to be fast enough to react to Sadja's moves. I'm also guilty of not paying close enough attention to the supply levels of my grunts, which has resulted in some breakthroughs (notably around Changsha).

Operation Herd commenced four days ago. It was something that was a long time in planning, and although the original conditions for it's launch have not been met, but I need somthing to regain some initiative. At the minimum I'm hoping to create some force redistribution, for a few weeks. At best, it could really wreak havoc, and take quite some time to...contain.[8D] Time will tell. More updates as the situation warrants.

Of course what I'm really waiting for is Sadja's next foray into the DEI. It's gotta come soon, but LittleKB is out of the war for some time (and completely in it's original form) and KB took several bomb hits through the flight decks, so I'm not expecting heavy CV cover. More likely, as he suggested earlier, Sadja will leverage LBA as best he can to make up for the missing carrier air groups. This should result in a more predictable pattern of landings, and hopefully I can do something about that.

The US has five fleet carriers operational. Some navigational and timing issues have caused me to rethink my plans for this force, so I've opted for another plan which is going to take a bit more preparation.

The situation around PM has pretty much stabilized, and I'm pummeling Lae with just about anything that flies right now, to build up the experience of my aviators. Sadja has got to be wondering why he is not seeing more of my 4e bombers in this area, to which I can only promise to deliver on that in the future. I'm not convinced that his efforts in this area are through, but as I suggested, the next blow needs to come in the DEI, or else the Dutch engineers will do a number on the oil and resources in the region.
