Trying to defend both hexes has its risks as well. A clever IJ player will challenge you in both hexes, making it impossible for you to shift LCUs from one hex to the other.

IIRC, Clark Field may be entered via San Marcelino, LIngayen, and the hex east of it. So defending Lingayen may turn into a death trap if Japanese troops bypass it.

I will rather hold Clark Field in the north and have other troops in S Luzon crushing weak landings if they happen.

I don't think Lingayen is defensible in PBEM. A lot of Jap players will sieze it on turn 1 via paradropped SNLF.
