These are Japanese battleships.

1 - Harima-class (fast BB built in place of Yamatos)
2 - Fuso-class rebuild: P and Q turrets dropped, power increased from 40,000shp to 131,000shp using same turbines as the rebuilt Kongos. Speed is 29 knots.
3 - Ise-class rebuild similar to the Fuso's with emphasis on speed.

if you are having furious in the game you might want to consider that the fighter portion of her Air group consisted of seafire Mark 1's which was a minimal modification of the MK 5 (ie add a hook) top speed in the region of 368 mph! Fastest carrier based fighter in service during 1942 !

Furious (& Couragous !) had T shaped lifts and thus could have a full fighter group of fighters with folding wings,

Cheers Good luck with the mod,

(have you tried playing the straight scenario replacing the Buffalo's at Singapore with Spitfire II's?....... quite illuminating)

No ... but I can guess the results. Zeros will no longer be "uber" and may even be decidedly inferior depending on the quality of the British pilots.

I am suspecting that Malaya will be well-nigh impossible to invade with the "bolstered Brits". At the least it will require the attention of a lot more force than in history, which will substantially delay ops in other areas.

Hopefully we should be able to start an AAR with the mod quite soon :)

I think I will change Furious' complement to Seafires, then. I wasn't able to find any data on her aircraft in early 42, so Seafires it is. [:D] (It's an alternate history mod, so guesswork is allowed! Errors aren't errors, they're "the way it happened" [;)] )

The Buffalos are still at Singapore in my scenario. However Malaya has been augmented with 3 squadrons of Spitfire Vbs transferred from the Med. [8D] Plus Wellingtons, Beauforts, Hurribombers... honestly, the British attitude hasn't changed much from "the Buffalo is good enough for Malaya." It's more of a "the Buffalo is good enough for Malaya, but hey, we have all these extra aircraft laying around and Mr. Churchill says we should, so what the hell" thing.

But those extra Spitfires do.. quite well. [:D] There aren't enough of them to make Malaya unconquerable, but they do make achieving air superiority extremely difficult.

In early 42 Furious was being refitted in the states

but her compliment was

June 1941 - 9 Fairey Fulmar, 4 Hawker Sea Hurricanes, 9 Fairey Albacore and 18 Fairey Swordfish;

November 1942 - 24 Supermarine Seafire, 9 Fairey Albacore;

according to the FAA website , she first got seafires in october 42

cheers

sorry to hijack this thread....but how do you get the art into WITP?

I managed to d/l the pictures...then I cut them up then put them into the art folder giving them new names.

The sides look fine...but the one with the pink background shows the pink background in combat. Did I do something wrong?

Love the art btw...have wanted to change up the Japanese building program for some time.

Thanks for any answers.

Then it's strange, because they should work. Did you name them correctly, so the ship classes are pointing at the correct graphics?

I only took the pic of the Furious....I cut it up using msPaint...which I know is crap...but it is all I have.
I named the side art 0392 and put it in the Allied Ship_back file and the pink on also named 0392 put it into the Allied Ship_Transp.

The side art looks fine when I run the application...but when there is combat the ship appears as a rectangular pink box with the ship name underneath and water all around the pink rectangle.

So the ship doesn't appear at all? Just the pink box?

no...the ship is in the box. It looks exactly like the bmp file does a big pink rectangle floating out in the ocean

I've seen this before, when I tried messing around with some of the plane sides. It has something to do with layers of the picture (I think), i.e. the pic's comprised of two layers, the ship and the pink background.

I'm not sure Paint can actually handle it, unless there's some trick to it that I don't know about (extremely likely). I think Cobra uses Photoshop to make them. Why not send him a PM about it?
