Bill,
For scenario design purposes, so long as the unit that you use is the same as the unit in the end-user's oob the scenario will play without a hitch.
A designer can also edit his own OOB prior, for example, to buying his units.
Let's suppose for the sake of argument that you want to depict an infantry unit that is not already in the OOB. You can edit your OOB file to include this new unit, so long as you edit a unit with the appropriate LBM (picture file).
So, you want a British ski squad?
Edit a ski squad from another Nation (Finland, for example) to carry the new name "BR Ski Squad" and then edit the weapons that you want to use.
Now go to the formations screen in the editor and create the formation that you want (for example, perhaps you want some MG's some pack howitzers and some sleds.
Once the edit is complete, you need only to open the scenario editor, build your battlefield with UK as the Nation, then purchase the ski company from the Finland purchase list. Use the scenario editor to trade the Finnish mg's for British MG's and same for the guns then all you have to edit in the scenario editor will be the commander's names. This saves having to edit each unit individually in your finished scenario- a big time saver!
As long as you do not create any new unit or move a unit, your edited OOB will be viewed correctly by the end-user.
One caveat.
You can not reduce the number of weapons in the host unit. Therefore, in the example above, if your Finnish ski squad has 3 weapon slots in use, your edited British ski squad can not have fewer than 3 weapons. This is one reason for OOB editors to ensure that some infantry units of each class have only one or two weapon slots in use - so that end-user scenario designers can model their own infantry units.
Alby, in the OOB mod, do all the new units now have a unique or correct text number entered in the text field? This will aid the encyclopedia entries.

They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.

How big is it (the mod you pervs [:-] )?
I can find somewhere for it even if I upload it to my Combat Campaigns website and we use links from the Depot (and ACG/SZO of course).
Is it done or only done for now, so far? [;)]
Almost 8 megs.
The FILE you pervs....[:D]

Statement: These are beautifully done. My congratulations to these fine artists.
Questions:
1. Will using this mod mean that only other players with the same mod be able to play them or will their game just show the older icons and map features?
2. Is there any guide to anything that we would normally see in play or design?
3. Is there a list of all the changes that can be read?
4. When can we get it and where can we get it.
Please advise on the first and last one. This is important to me.

Are you talking PBEM or just solitary play??
Bill somewhere on this forum and I think the Wargamer is a list of changes from Version 1
The version 1 changes I believe are on this forum and the Wargamer as well.
Where can we get it...hmmm... thats why I asked you over at the wargamer how big a file we can upload there..[:D]
At the moment we are limited to 2 MB at the Depot.

That should be something we should know for sure before it is offered to the public. Scenario designers would be reticent to use them if it does limit play to only those who have the mod.
As to modswapper, I've heard of it. I don't know if I have a copy. Where is it found, Mike? Or anyone?
The downside again is that I can use it for myself but when we are talking about swapping out OOBs then we are talking about the player having those same different (make sense?) OOBs.
I generally avoid using mods or changes in design though I can enjoy them for myself. The only time I would use them in design is when it will not affect the play of those who don't have them, or they become universally accepted and used.
Even this 1.2 and 2.0 version conflict disturbs me. It should not be that way but sometimes progress is costly. What do you think of 2.0, Mike? And the rest of you playing?
WB
Bill there are also Mods over at the Depot that have JUST the graphics and Icons in them.
Which would not affect any OOBs.
Many players are using these now.

I have found only one error in the text files so far..
The BT7 was dispalying text for Italian Paratroopers??
but it is now fixed.
I only added some text files for some of the new german units, as did Mau Fox for the Italians...I did not alter or delete any.

I wasn't querying the text files. I was wondering if all units now have a text number in the text field in the unit data so that a enc text can be written that can be associated with each unit?

Look in the Modswapper area...
[:)]
Okay I did and did all the registration stuff and still couldn't find anything appropriate to download. There is a thread on terrain graphics but the upload is size 0? There are other threads but they are for weird versions of the game and stuff and also they alter the OOBs which I don't need. Is there anything simple I can download that will work on the regular game version 8.4? Like vehicles and terrain graphics upgrades. Please help, I want the nice graphics! [:)]
