Olongapo has completely changed since Subic closed. Now huge nice civilian port with large new industrial center. Much cleaner since the squids left! [;)]Angelas by Clark is still pretty much the same. They will not allow too much liberty anymore because of the threat there. I was there 3 years ago and I am sure that it has changed alot since then.

I haven't been to Olangapo since 1983 or thereabouts so I'm sure its changed considerably. Still remember the banter though: "Hey, sailah! Luv you long time, boom boom, cheap, cheap, 5 dollah!"

Too bad I was married the last time there!

Where I grew up, you breaded and deep fried 'em ... ate 'em with ketchup ... did it with turkey nuts, too ...

Of course, in some Scandinavian countries, young maidens eat deer nuts raw, right off the deer ...

Made the CPO initiation a piece of cake; all the things I stuffed in my face.

You sure? How about some truth serum?

did you eat the banana?...wait...sorry...that was a show in Kadena...my air crew tried to drag me on stage to sample the banana pieces...i don't think a herd of elephants could have gotten me up there...

can't remember the name of my favorite Olangapo bar, but i remember having san miguels for 35 cents a pop and swearing Van Halen was on stage...the costumes and wigs the band had were VERY convincing when watching from the back of the bar thru beer goggles and trying to look around the "waitresses" hovering around our table...wasn't there a place called "Michael Jordan's" there? we laughed our arses off picturing Air Jordan in that place...

Knowing the frightening things that people from both of those countries eat I stuck with words that I was sure of the meanings of so as to avoid ordering the sweet and sour pigs balls covered in saurkraut.

You avoided that???!?!? There is nothing better in life than S&S pig balls covered in saurkraut. mmmmm......... pig balls.......

Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.
