RE: CHS ETA ???

First I am not speaking for CHS, however I have been going though the online DANFS entry by entry and have discovered a host of incorrect arrival dates, a few very gross, and quite a few missing AK's and AP's (~ 30 missing)so far in the current CHS version. I am currently in the C section. I decided to undertake this primarily for the extended map version to set arrival times for vessels arriving from the East Coast and to correct availability dates from West Coast construction. If any one would like to help with this pm me and I will send u a copy of my work so far adn a guide as to what needs to be done. I hope that the CHS folks would find some use in this, if not then el cid has expressed an interest. I fugure that if enough of us could hammer on this it could be completed within the week. One point though, DANFS only lists ships actually commissoned in the US Navy, other vessels not included also need edited, especially the Allies.

AB is on Holiday ...shortly after his return.

In case you missed it, just before he went on holliday, Andrew and I agreed to attempt a joint release of CHS and RHS on about 15 April.
I am learning why he keeps putting the date back! We will NEVER be done! So I am trying to fix what is critical and important - and we will get around to the little things as upgrades. [CHS tries to stay stable for a long time. RHS will try to update continuously - as an experiment. You might get an update every few days - if someone has been working on (say) dates of appearance of merchant ships - or whatever. We HAVE someone doing that - by the way - and I will always trade better data for what we have.] Anyway, since Andrew is gone, there is no news to contradict that plan - so that is the plan - at the moment. [I remember when it was going to release by the first of the year, and several other dates - but he said "this time" he "really wants to do it."] Since the CHS team materials were all shared with me, there was some concern about releasing them prematurely - only testers and data entry people see the files for now.

I will say that I am running continuous tests of RHS - mainly computer vs computer - and others are running some files manually. I find the AI is really stupid - and at the moment I am trying to "coach" it with unit settings. Frustratingly, it seems to ignore them fairly often - as if it knows better than a human! But it is getting so the AI vs AI produces something akin to history. I need lots of details run down - and tests run - if anyone has an interest in anything. I did the ships for the Russians, by the way - and now with the help of Montor (and my power to free up slots in RHS) I will be adding the missing ones. I also have begun to add Russian Naval Air units - wholly missing before. If you think land is bad - you should try air units - the Soviets need a LOT of them. I am also trying to "train" the AI to handle the Soviets active but not at war - but I do not think it can handle it.

OK, who is responsible for letting AB go on vacation? We want to know, the most important thing in any project is to assign blame.

I guess I did. He told me he was going, and it never even occurred to me to object! Since people love to get mad at my outlandish opinions all the time, and since nothing much bothers me (being used to complaints),
you can blame me all you like!
