SKI troops can't assault armour.

Yes, some of the skiers have the HE demo charges rather than AP type. So they will consume them vs infantry as they do grenades.

As of V6.1, and probably before that, German ski troops will not clear obstacles such as mines. I've never tried to assault with them, but I suspect that might have had something to do with their probably not having anything anti-tank.

If I'm guessing correctly, this ski troop issue might've gone all the way back to V.1.

I know that if they're GE and early-war, they don't have any smoke ammo either. Not sure about other countries' ski troops or post '43 Germans.

tracer: Yes, very good, I forgot about that. My goodness, the more time passes the more useless they're revealed to be. It seems they were programmed to have a snow speed advantage and little else. And to think, that I thought fighting against the Finns with the Ruskies was tough before. Good thing for them they didn't buy the whole army as skiers.

No smoke would be a possible OOB fix though, right Brian? <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Also noticed if you generate a D-Day (US>>GE) battle in v7 the AI chooses ski troops for its infantry every time. I haven't really run it enough times to qualify as a true 'test', but so far (maybe 6 attempts) its happened every time.
