Think they're about equally bad, but more people have seen the first one, so there's a higher Seen-It to Hate-It ratio.

Come on this movie was funny[:D][:D][:D] as Willie mentioned Vals bombing cars , P-40's outmanuvering the Zeros and making them crash in the Air[:D][:D] i remeber a Really fun to wat series named "4 Tankers and Dog" about a polish T-34 crew in the Eastern front... during the series they Killed more Tigers then the Germans probably produced[:D][:D] but the series was fun to watch even now after like nearly 20 years after i saw it for the first time in the TV... Remeber this PH movie wasen't made for people like us who now "what and how" but to people who can bearly tell de Difference betwen the Zero and P-40[:D][:D][:D][:D]

Any way i really liked the Series "Band of Brothers" i would want that something like this series would be made about Warsaw Uprising and show in the US so the people would not think that the only uprising in Warsaw was the small Ghetto uprising in 1943...

Any Way Willie less crappy films more WITP

Don't forget the romantic scene where 2 people were able to fit into the cockpit of a P-40.

hey, apparently this happened all the time - witness "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". Of course, according to that movie, no only did the P-40 have 2 seats, but could hit the water at 300 mph and then proceed along as a submarine!![X(][X(][:'(]

I thought the 'run down the trench' was the best part.

Maybe not QUITE as stupid as we like to think. Sure, it was stolen from Star Wars, but George Lucas admitted he took/modelled most of his X-wing, TIE, etc. fighter maneuvers from WW2 fighter footage.

But still, in "TMTSNBN" it was pretty stupid...[:D][:'(]

It's a shame that this board is so international, would like to sit down with you guys, have a beer and watch the movie. Every scene would be paused and we would have a go and have a generall laugh about the "wrongness" of every scene [:D][:D]
We could even make a movie of ourselves watching the movie ... call it "Mystery Wargamer Theater 3000."
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

"Please help me. I cannot load this game without, after Frankie de Laino intones "Yesterday," clicking to move on to the next screen while murmuring, "All my troubles seemed so far away...."

Past... so it's you I have to blame for that same problem... Sometimes I am able to click soon enough to only hear "Yes...". Somewhere along the line my mind started adding "we have no bananas" when I do that... Now you can suffer along with me.

A .50 caliber FMJ round, fired vertically, will penetrate a 1 inch pine board up to 5 feet under water. Fired on an oblique angle, the penetration is reduced by 1 foot.

A .30 caliber FMJ round, fired vertically, will not penetrate a 1 inch pine board at 2 feet under water.

Military FMJ rounds do not "explode" or expand. Under water they will simply expend their energy and sink. Whatever Mythbusters was firing was not what you would have been strafed with, that's for sure.

Either way, 5 feet under and you're good to go.

Anyone notice in Saving Private Ryan, in the opening scene showing a GI getting killed underwater by bullets, that the bullets were travelling through the water at more than 45 degrees? The Germans would have had to have been in a 200 foot tower right on the beach for that to happen :)

Saw that episode too. Exploded may have been the wrong term. Disintegrated or fragmented is probably more accurate.

It could have ricochetted off something else first...

Ah, but would a richochet still have the power to penetrate to that depth with sufficient velocity to kill?

Personally, I think they richocheted off an overhead dialog balloon inadvertently left in by the script writers [:D]

Why the difference between left and right wing ammo?

All wings are not equal. As an aircraft contains a powerfull gyroscope in the form of an engine, the right wing (on most single engined aircraft where the engine turns clockwise as seen from the cockpit) has to generate more lift than the left to compensate for the torque of the engine. If you look really closely at an F4U Corsair, you will notice a small spoiler on the leading edge of the right wing. This is to reduce the effectiveness of the right airfoil in the event of a stall, so that both wings stall at the same speed. Without this small modification, a corsair tended to stall left wing first, resulting in a fatal spin at low altitude. Look further and you will note the vertical stabilizer and rudder assembly is offset to one side, so the pilot does not have to stand on the rudder when the engine is at take off power.

So there is a reason. The ammo load out is asymetrical to balance the load on both wings when the engine is running.

Make us watch cheesy WW2 movies and monitor our minds? Dr. Forester would be proud. That is evil![:-]
