Modder Friendly?

A brand new campaign-based 3D tactical engine covering combat in World War II, from the developers at Koios Works. The first operation covered is the famous "Wintergewitter" or Winter Storm, a desperate attempt by Hoth's 57th Panzer Korps to break through to the encircled 6th Armee at Stalingrad and the Soviet counter-attack by 2nd Guards Army that drove them back.

Redwolf and Erik thanks so much for answering my questions.   Now will it be out at 12:01am tonight [:D]

Sorry, but no - it will be tomorrow, sometime in the morning. It's been a long and exciting day setting things up here at the show. We are timing it to coincide with when we open our booth here tomorrow at Origins, so given that there will probably be a slight delay as there is in such things, I'd say noon Eastern time is a good bet.

Regards,

Marc -

Are you guys going to post this documentation the day of release or weeks later? I want to buy this game asap but I would like to see the docs before I do if I could resist that long?

I think monday would be a save date for those PDFs. Maybe a day earlier. Up to that day reading the manual and actually playing will keep you busy [;)]

Give the gamer too much and there won't be any need to buy the sequels/expansions.

I disagree - I think a really good set of mods - units, maps, scenarios - would be very much in demand. Yes, individuals could do these things for free and likely will, but I'd be willing to pay a fee for high quality mods regardless of who did them if they appealed to my interests. Since a 3rd party can't sell such mods for financial gain due to the copyright issue, it puts Matrix in a position of encouraging 3rd party contributions go to them, and releasing them as official products.

What would the incentive be for 3rd party contributors to do that? Prestige and getting their name on an ofifcial product. Could Matrix feasibly do that from a financially standpoint? No idea. It would seem unusual - of al the OFP or Close Combat mods, have publishers ever anointed any of them as "official" mods and profited by them?

War Plan Orange is actually an example of something that started as a "mod" and ended up as a full blown release with new development, etc. so it can happen!

Documentation for modding PzC is now available in the "Scenario Design and Modding" subforum.

Well, I certainly hope that someone develops a Tiger soon.

Advancing across the steppe outgunned and underarmoured is a nightmare.

It might have been more interesting to have the game based on Hausser's February counterattack with the 2nd SS Pz Korps.

PoE,

Tigers are already in the game, but only show up in the Variety Skirmish scenario. If you are having trouble winning the campaign, have you tried it on the Easy level?

Awesome Erik!

I found the Tiger textures in the armoured vehicles directory.

What a terrific idea to include the VIe.

It really fleshes out the German's equipment inventory, post-February/pre-Kursk that is.

Thanks,
